PLAN OF ACTION & ANNOTATION

THE ASSIGNMENT GOALS.
THE ASSIGNMENT WAS TO SELECT A PARTICULAR EVENT AND THE
RAMIFICATIONS TO ALL STAKEHOLDERS. I CHOSE AN EVENT WHERE THE
ADMINISTRATOR DECIDED THE COURSE OF ACTION FOR ALL PARTIES INVOLVED.
WHAT KEY POINTS OF VALUE YOU GLEANED FROM THE ASSIGNMENT.
I WAS ABLE TO KEY IN ON THE NEED FOR COLLABORATION AND HOW TO APPLY
THE PARADIGMS OF JUSTICE & CARE FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF.
HOW YOU MIGHT APPLY YOUR LEARNING PROFESSIONALLY.
I HAVE RECEIVED INFORMATION PERTAINING TO COLLABORATION ON A UNIQUE
LEVEL AND IN OBSERVATION LEARNED ITS VALUE AS A LEADER.
THE MODIFICATIONS YOU HAVE MADE TO IT TO IMPROVE IT BASED ON
THE FEEDBACK YOU RECEIVED FROM YOUR PEERS AND INSTRUCTOR
FROM WEEK FIVE.
IVE EMBEDDED THE NEED FOR STUDENT INVOLVEMENT AS A NECESSITY.

CASE STUDY 9.2 WHOSE BEST INTERESTS? A TESTING DILEMMA

CENTRAL HIGH STUDENTS ALWAYS PERFORMED WELL ON THE STATES STANDARDIZED
TESTS BY MAINTAINING SCORES THAT WERE EQUAL TO OR ABOVE STATE AVERAGES. THE
SCHOOL CONTINUED TO MEET STATE-DEFINED, ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS TARGETS.
UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS THE SCHOOLS FUTURE PERFORMANCE THAT MOST CONCERNED
THE BOARD OF SCHOOL DIRECTORS. WITH EACH PASSING YEAR, THE STATES GOALS FOR
ACCEPTABLE SCORES BECAME MORE AGGRESSIVE. DUE TO SUCH HIGH EXPECTATIONS, IT
APPEARED THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF DISTRICTS WOULD NOT MEET STATE GOALS IN THE
COMING YEARS. THE SCHOOL DIRECTORS WANTED TO ENSURE THAT THEIR DISTRICT
WOULD NOT BE AMONG THEM.

Ethical Dilemma:
When Administrators, Parents, and Teachers voice
their opinion, what exactly does the student hear?

My Teaching in my opinion
has changed as much as the
views of whats better for our
kids, voiced from an outside
source, We have to teach
those types of things to our
children to be prepared not
just for one thing, but to be
prepared to work in this new
world, Zhao, Y. (2008).

As a parent, Im confused by, The

No Child Left Behind Act, which was
signed into law in January 2002,
mandates standardized testing in
math and reading for students in
grades three through eight. The test
scores will then be used both to
gauge the students' level of
proficiency in these subjects and to
evaluate the schools' performance,
Crone, T. M. (2004).

As superintendent, I must
consider the obvious, If you
move away from standardized
testing, Zhao, Y. (2008), what
then replaces it. Many of
wonder why students dont
value the effort needed in
preparing for such test, I feel
that there is a correlation in
the effort of teachers.

Teachers: Want to have the resources that allow

them to educate on par with global and national
standards.
Administrators: While safety is the first concern,
the need for properly resourced and trained
individuals play a vital role in supporting an
established vision.
Parents: Knowing their student is afforded the
best possible opportunities to prepare for the
future is any parents concern.

Ethical Leadership Lenses:

How can I
effectively do my
job, which is
defined by
statues which
protect the
innocent, when
the outcome may
have
consequences,

We often speak
about ethics as if we
know what it is, as if
it is black and white
you are either
ethical or you are
not.

Few qualitative studies consider how high school

experiences affect readiness, Park, J. J. (2015).

Plan of Action:
In testing students there will always be a division
formed by testing outcomes. I propose the use of
scores to encourage students to reach obtainable
levels, it must be factored on empowering and not
criticism.
Inviting students to engage and participate in their
learning opens doors for them to take
responsibility for their education. Regardless of
their background students are encouraged by
attention and praise, this is the strongest tool.
Individuals who have reached a pinnacle in their
lifes have done so by establishing, Core
reflections, these are basic philosophies which are
interchangeable, yet doesnt challenge the identity
of who they are. My expectations are for myself
and those with value in the educational system, we
must, Acquire, Respect and Speak, in order to
establish growth.

The ethic of critique is based on critical theory,

which has, at its heart, an analysis of social class
and its inequities, Poliner Shapiro, J. (2011).

Student data can be through a variety of

assessments, usually, the methods consist of; test,
quizzes and hands-on evaluations. These methods
may yield results determined by individuals and
their comprehension of lessons.
A Strategy focused on, Establishing a foundation
which entitles all parties to ethical treatment
requires policies which can be adaptable and
versatile, A promising way of understanding the
dynamics of partnership is through the concept of
the stakeholder, Watson, D. (2007).
