include to demonstrate the legacy of your

On November 30, 2016, my country


Barbados celebrated its 50th year of
Independence.
This is our story in a capsule.

Let us start at the beginning

The island was first inhabited


by the Tainos,
we have evidence of this in the artefacts
they have left behind

Our Capital and Its Name

It is said that our capital Bridgetown got its


name from the remnants of a bridge that was
found when the first European settlers came.
It is said that the it was probably built by the
Tainos

Education

A lot of the advancement in our


country is because of the great effort
made to educate its population.

St. Mary's Primary School

St. Mary's Primary School is probably the oldest


primary school in Barbados dating back to 1817,
the school is still located on Mason Hall Street, it
was amalgamated in 1987.

Combermere is one of, if not the oldest secondary


School in Barbados, dating back to 1686
The school has produced many outstanding
citizens over the years.

which country stands tall and is still
accessible to all citizens
