1.Definition of Marriage
Marriage in our Society is a socio-religious activity
It is a mutual agreement between 2 dis-similar parties i.e
male and female for a meaningful coexistence and to
participate in the natural process of procreation for the
continuance of human race.
The four pillers of Dharma as per our Hindu philosophy
are:
Purusharthas
Houses (Bhavas)

2. Historical Perspective
As per the ancient scriptures, our sages described
eight (8) kinds of marriages which are as follows:1. Brahma
2. Daiva
3. Arasa
4. Prajapatya
5. Asura
6. Gandharva (love)
7. Rakshasa
8. Paichasika
Note:- Paichasika kind of mariage is a worst kind of
marriage.

4. Houses to be Considered
The following houses needs to be analysed very
carefully for this purpose: (1/2/4/5/7/8/12)
1. First House:- Relates to physical comforts of the native.
2. Second House:- Kutumba stana deals with family and
its members
3. Fourth House:- Deals with comforts of a house where
one lives.
4. Fifth House:- Deals with progeny, i.e the natural
outcome of marriage.
5. Seventh House:- Deals with appearance, attitude of the
spouse and multiple marriages.
6. Eighth House:- Deals with longevity of the native.

2. Classification of Navamsha
Navamsha is classified as follows:1) The first classification is based on Dhatu, Moola and Jeeva
2) The second classification depends upon Deva, Nara and
Rakshasa
3) Navamsha is also classified as Shuba and Ashuba Navamsha
4) It is also classified as Vargottama, Mitra rasi vargottama and
Shatru rasi vargottama
5) It is also classified based on numerical numbers
(5th/8th/36th/56th/64th/72nd/88th/96th/108th)
6) It is also classified in Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha
Navamsha
7) It is also classified on tatvas i.e Agni, Pruthvi, Aakasa, Vayu
and Jala.
8) Some navamshas are also known as Pushkara Navamshas
as distinct from Pusharamsha
