What is muscle cells?

Jammy

Muscle cell is group of fibrous tissue that

make the contraction.
Allow the move, makes the shape, movement
of food digestive system, the flow of blood.

Muscle
There are 3 types of muscle
Skeletal muscle
Cardiac muscle
Smooth muscle

Jammy

Skeletal Muscle

The function is to contract part of the

body to move closer to the bone
that the muscles are attracting to.
Most skeletal muscles are attached
to two bones across a joint between
each bone.
All of human activities are requires
skeletal muscle

Jammy

Jammy

Where skeletal muscle cell located

- It cover all over skeletal to help the
movement and giving the body it shapes.
- Skeletal cell attracted with each skeletal
and tendons in the body.

Jammy

Skeletal special feature in our model

- The shape of our cell is like a cylindrical.
- There are many mitochondria
- Myofiber
- Myofibrill

Specialized organelles.

Jammy

- mitochondria

- many of them

- myofibrils/myofiber

- other cell doest have

- Sarcoplasmic reticulum

- like smooth endoplasmic recticulum comparing to

other cell

- Sarcolemma

- like cell membrane comparing to other cell

Muscle cell Shape

Pleng

-Single, very long cylindrical, multinucleated cells with obvious striations lots of
mitochondria
-Big. 100 um in diameter. Several cm in length. Myoblast fused together creates
its length

Muscle cell Function

1. Produce skeletal movement
- Contractions pull tendons, move bones
2. Maintain posture and body position
- By tension in skeletal muscles
3. Support soft tissues
- Support organs, shield internal tissues
4. Guard entrances and exits
- Openings of digestive/urinary tracts
5. Maintain body temperature
- Heat released by working muscles
6. Store nutrient reserves
- Proteins in muscles can break down

How does the shape of the cell affect the function?

The shape of a cell will affect its surface area. The surface area of a cell
dictates how much interaction the cell will have with its environment. Cells with
high surface area are usually cells that require a lot of interaction with their
environment. A cilliated cell in the lung is used to transfer oxygen in and out of
the body.

What are some of the diseases related to the

malfunction of skelatal muscle cell?
2.Gout= this disease results from the disturbance
of metabolism Process and It cause uric acid
imbalance in the body
Symptom
Get painfulness when walking

Function that help keep organism

alive

Tongta

Skeletal muscles produce movement, maintain posture and

generate body heat.

-All organism have to move. They have to use

movement for their activity.
-The body heat is very important. It balanced
body heat.

Cell organelle in our

model

Muscle Organelle

Jammy

Mitochondria- produce energy

Nucleus- control center

of the cell

Muscle Organelle
Myofiber- skeletal muscle cell
Myofibril - It is the unit of muscle contraction
and found within muscle cell.

Jammy

Jammy

Muscle Organelle
Myofilament- the structure of myofibril that is protein
filament. ( actin+myosin)
Sarcolemma- the outher lipid bilayer, cell membrane of
skeletal muscle cell

1.Actin filaments are the smallest cytoskeletal filaments, with a diameter of 7

nm. They are thin, relatively flexible threads that can be crosslinked together in
different ways to form very different structures.
2.Titin filament is a giant protein, greater than 1 nm in length, that functions as
a molecular spring which is responsible for the passive elasticity of muscle.

Muscle Organelle
The sarcoplasmic reticulum is a
specialized SER that regulates the
calcium ion concentration in the
cytoplasm of striated muscle cells.

Pleng

Muscle cell organelle

Tongta

Transverse tubules or T tubules = It is a tiny tunnel-like

that extension of the sarcolemma and it penetrate into
skeletal and cardiac. Its function is the transpiration of
electrical impulse from external to internal cell That
cause muscle contraction.

Muscle Organelles

Tongta

Terminal cisterns
-It sharpen edges of the sarcoplasmic
reticulum that adjacent to the T tubes and
found in the middle of striated muscles cell.

Muscle organelle

Tongta

Triad
-It is the group of three membranous, and it
found in the middle of striated muscle cells. It
consist T tube and two adjacent terminal
cistern
