Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the
primary cause of death in the United States and
worldwide. Hyperlipidemia is considered to be a
major risk factor for CVD, and currently a high
percentage of US women have elevated
concentrations of total cholesterol (TC) and LDL
cholesterol (45.0% and 32.0%, respectively).
Green tea as a dietary factor has been shown to
lower the risk of a number of chronic diseases,
including heart disease
Blood lipid concentrations in postmenopausal
women are of interest due to their increased risk
and incidence of developing heart disease
