Zigbee based Vehicle Tracking System

Introduction
In order to avoid the vehicle thefting our project is concerned
about developing security system for monitoring the vehicle,
based on combination of ZigBee, GPS, AT89S52
microcontroller.

Zigbee
ZigBee is an open global standard for
wireless technology designed to use lowpower digital radio signals for personal
area networks.
It operates on the IEEE802.15.4
specification and is used to create networks
that require a low data transfer rate, energy
efficiency and secure networking.

Zigbee Features
High-level communication.
Consumes low-power.
Less expensive than other WPANS. Transmission distances to
10100 meters line-of-sight, with bit rate of 250 kbps.
Frequency of operation is 2.4 GHz.

GPS
A GPS tracking unit is a device,
normally carried by a moving
vehicle or person, that uses the
Global Positioning System to
determine and track its precise
location.
Data tracking software is
available for smartphones with
GPS capability.

Microcontroller
AT89S52 is a low-power, highperformance CMOS 8-bit
microcontroller with 8K bytes of insystem programmable Flash memory.
Operating voltage range is 0 - 5V.
256K internal RAM.
Fully static operating range 0 - 33 MHz.

MAX 232
The MAX232 is an integrated
circuit which converts signals
from a RS-232 serial port to
signals suitable for using in TTLcompatible digital logic circuits.

LCD
LCD (liquid crystal display)
is the technology used for
displays.
