What can we can do with these case ??

Can we cure of them ---- How ????

The Differentiated Cell

The vast majority of cells in the
body (somatic cells) fall into
specific classes or types, such
as:
Muscle,
Bone,
Neurons etc --- Unique
characteristics and functions.

Not interchangeable
Muscle cell cannot become a
neuron
Lost the ability to create new
cells
Have finite lifespans

Organ
Transplantation ??

The Disavantage of Organ

Transplantation
1. The donor much lower than the potential
recipient----Not be possible to meet the
need of the new cases
2. The increasing of neurodegenerative
diseases
Parkinsons disease
Alzheimers.
3. Bad impact: the presence of a new
pacemaker could give rise to arrhythmias
4. Complecity process

We need another
therapy

Stem cell therapy is one of the

most promising future

techniques in the medical
arsenal for the repair of
damaged or destroyed tissue

The Benefit of Stem Cell

Therapy
1. Easier to carry out
2. Does not require such a complex
surgical procedure
3. Could reach a much wider
population

Renal Injury

CHARACTERISTIC OF
STEM CELL
Stem cells are able to divide:
1.Self-renewal
2.Differentiate into specialised
cells.

Stem cells are

uncommitted cells with the
potential to differentiate
into cells of specific tissue.
(Stem Book-Low, 2008)

Non-Symmetrical
Division
This double function is achieved
through a process of NonSymmetrical Division:
1. In which one of the daughter cells
remains undifferentiated and
maintains the pool of stem cells
2. while the other one differentiates

The Classification of Stem Cell

1. The Embryonic Stem (ES) cell
2. Adult stem cell
1. less self-renewal ability
2. Only differentiate into a limited number of
cell type
3. Have been identified in most tissues :
1. Hematopoietic stem cell (HSCs):
2. Neural Stem Cells (NSCs)
3. Hepatic oval cells
4. Epidermal stem cells
5. Mesenchymal stem cell: very

Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) are a

collection of cells found only in very early
development which are the precursors to
every celltypein the human body

Pluripotent cells derived from the

inner cell mass of preimplantation
blastocyst stage embryos

Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC)

MSCs can be obtained from a variety of tissues
including :
1. Hematopoietic
2. The stromal non-hematopoietic (bone
marrow)
3. Adipose tissue
A large number of studies have analyzed the
fate of adult stem cells administered in vivo
as well as the possible mechanisms by which
they might operate in the treatment of different
diseases

Hematopoietic stem cell (HSCs)

Basic human developmental biology of self
renewal, differentation dan commitment to
specific lineage.
Easy access to homogeneous cell population
Hematopoietic stem cell transpaltation (HCT) for
therapeutic of many malignant hemtological
disorder--- Stem Cell Therapy
