CableScan
Robotic Cable Stay
Inspection System

The first robotic inspection of Bridge

Cable Stays
360 degree up close coverage of the
stays
Locates and photographs all
abnormalities.
Measures location of abnormality
along the stay as well as the deck.
No lane closures or boom trucks
required.

Benefits

No lane closures
Daytime operations
Safer inspection
environment
No damage related from
costly access equipment

CableScan
Skyway QC Inspection
In a double blind study where IPC was asked to
QC 9 of the 84 stays on the Skyway bridge and
compare the results to a traditional inspection
method performed one month earlier.
IPC found 8 abnormalities in the 9 stays where
the traditional inspection method of the entire
bridge inspecting at night from a bucket truck
found one on the whole bridge.

CableScan R Series
IPC is in the final stages of
developing a CableScan R
Series inspection system
equipped with articulating arms
that can perform repairs to cable
stays.
These repairs can be performed
during the day without lane
closures.

CrackScan

Concrete Crack Inspection Service

CrackScan is a laser inspection system that can
locate and quantify cracks in concrete bridges. It
can be deployed without lane closures or bucket
trucks that are currently being used in the existing
traditional inspection method.
CrackScan is more accurate and can be performed
within the DOTs existing budgets.

CrackScan
Concrete Crack Inspection Service
IPC was asked to participate in a blind comparison to
the traditional inspection method in Las Vegas, NE.
Two bridges were inspected using the traditional
crack inspection method then CrackScan followed
up with their laser inspection.
The traditional inspection method found no cracks
in the first bridge and two in the second bridge.
CrackScan found 12 cracks in the first bridge and
8 in the second.

CrackScan
CrackScan meets the traditional reporting
methods and provides the following
additional features:

* 2D and 3D CAD imaging

of the crack within the
structure.
* Shows X,Y & Z axis as
well as length & widths of
the cracks.
