Integrated Waterproofing

.
Integrated Waterproofing- Penetron
Penetron is a surface-applied, integral crystalline waterproofing
material, which waterproofs and protects concrete in-depth.
It consists of Portland cement, specially treated quartz sand and a
compound of active chemicals. Penetron needs only to be mixed with
water prior to application.
When Penetron is applied to a concrete surface the active chemicals
combine with the free lime and moisture present in the capillary tracts
of the concrete to form an insoluble, crystalline structure.
These crystals fill the pores and minor shrinkage cracks in the
concrete to prevent any further water ingress (even under pressure).
However, the Penetron will still allow the passage of vapor through the
structure (i.e. the concrete will be able to breathe).
In addition to waterproofing the structure, Penetron protects concrete
against seawater, wastewater, aggressive ground water and many
other aggressive chemical solutions.
Penetron is approved for use in contact with potable water, and is
therefore suitable for use in water storage tanks, reservoirs, water
treatment plantsetc. Penetron is not a decorative material.
ADVANTAGES
Becomes an integral part of the concrete, forming a complete body of strength
and durability. Penetron should not be confused with a coating or membrane
Penetrates deeply and seals concretes capillary tracts and shrinkage cracks
Can be applied from either the positive or negative side
Waterproofing and chemical-resistance properties remain intact even if the
surface is damaged
Completely effective against high hydrostatic pressure
More effective overall and less costly than hydrolytic membrane or clay panel
systems
Easy to apply, labor- cost effective
Increases concretes compressive strength
Cannot come apart at the seams, tear or puncture
Does not require protection during backfilling, placement of steel or wire mesh,
and other common procedures
Seals hairline and shrinkage cracks of up to 1/64 (0.4 mm) rather than merely
masking or bridging them
Resists chemical attack (pH3-11 constant contact, 2-12 intermittent contact) and
provides a range of protection from freeze/thaw cycles, aggressive subsoil
waters, sea water, carbonates, chlorides, sulfates and nitrates
Can be applied to moist or green concrete
Protects embedded steel (reinforcing steel and wire mesh)
Nontoxic. Approved for potable water applications (NSF 61)
Integrated Water Proofing- SPECIFICATION OF WORK & COSTING

Mixing of Penetron to Concrete :-

It shall be mix with Penetron Admix integral crystalline
waterproofing @ 0.8% by weight of total cementations contained

i.e. 400 Kgs x0.8%= 3.2 Kgs of Admix per

Cu. Mt. Concrete shall be added with 4.0 Liters. Of water and
shall be mixed with the stirrer attached with drill paddle and
poured into the miller at site and mixed for at least 5 minutes
and poured the concrete at desired

The Approximate costing per Cu. Mt. for Penetron

WP Is around Rs. 900.00 (other than concrete cost)
But per liter cost for any tank or STP will come to
Rs. 0.20 / Liter
PLUGGING OF TIE-RODS HOLES:-
Clean the surface area of all dirt, oil, laitance, loose matter, etc Tie Rod
periphery shall be cut and roughen.
Tie rod PVC pipe shall be removed and other steel must be cut back to
minimum depth of 1# (2.5cm) before patching. These holes shall be
plugged with Rendroc Plug mortar.
Breaking & removing the existing unsound concrete minimum 15mm to
20mm and cleaning with water, aggregate exposed finish, free from
contaminants that may prevent adhesion.
Providing and applying one coat of Penetron and repairing the surface
with repair mortar after finishing final coat of Penetron will be applied
CEMENTATIOUS INJECTION GROUTING FOR CONSTRUCTION JOINS AND
HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE:-

The given below treatment shall be carried out only where honey combs & leakages
are observed in real estate properties or construction locations
Drilling the holes Dia 10mm to 12 mm hole in the concrete up to required depth or up
to the half of depth of concrete between the construction joints/lift joints/honey comb,
cleaning the holes with wire brush removing the dust by blower and cleaning with the
water.
Providing & Fixing the nipple after keeping the gap between the nipple and hole depth
with fast setting cement, so to make watertight, each nipple is fix at appropriate
distance depending up on the severity of leakages joints/cracks /honeycomb. 50 kg
dry cement shall be mix with Cebex 100 250Grams non-shrink grout additive, so as to
compensate cement shrinkage.
The non shrink, modified cementatious grout shall be added in require water and
shall be mix homogenous slurry shall be grouted between the constructions joints by
fixing the discharged hose in the non returned valve in nipple, the grouting shall be
continues till the back pressure is mounted or till the grout ooze out in alternate
nipple, grouting shall be carried out in next port.
Grouting Method: The water shall be grouted by Pump Into the concrete so as to open
the micro Pores in the concrete. The polymer modified micro cementatious grout shall
be grouted with hand pump. The grouting shall be continuous till it oozes out from
alternate nipple or from the surface of the concrete, till it filled all inherent holes
cavities, voids, honey combs etc. All the oozing shall plug with plugging compound.
Finally the nipple shall be removed and plug with our fast setting plugging cement.
Providing and laying of Box type waterproofing :-
Total thickness 75mm in CM 1:4 proportion with waterproof
admixture as per specification / method statement approved by
structural consultant / Engineer-in-Charge. First layer consist of
20mm thick cement sand mortar in 1:4 proportion with
waterproofing compound (4% by weight of cement) shall be laid
on PCC for Raft / RCC walls as protective layer including 20mm
size aggregate embedded into the first layer before the setting
of mortar (weight of aggregate shall be at the rate of 20kg/sq.
mt.) including minimum 3 days curing, second layer consist of
600mm x 600mm Shahabad stone slab of not less than 40mm
thick with machine cut edge laid over 20mm thick metal coba
bedding including joint filling (5 to 10mm) with neat cement
slurry & waterproofing compound and embedding aggregate of
size less than 12mm and finishing top layer of Shahabad stone
with 15mm thick cement sand mortar in 1:4 proportion with
waterproof liquid (dosages as per manufacturer specification)
and the surface is finish smooth with minimum 3 days curing
The Approximate costing per liter for any Water tank or
STP will come to Rs. 0.70 / Liter
Integrated Waterproofing - Conventional Box Type
Penetron Waterproofing
01 As it is integrated, it is done at It is done after the RCC structure
the time of concreting for any is made. It is an individual process
structure followed after the concreting is
done
02 The process is simple & can be The process needs Skilled labour
understood by any person force only with proper supervision
Skilled / Un-skilled
03 Curing to concreting serves the Separate curing is to be done for
purpose for Penetron every layer applied on RCC
waterproofing surface
04 The integrated waterproofing is This is done mainly on outer
done to each and every surface walls of any structure.
concreting done in any Internal walls are treated with only
structure part method.
05 It improves the concrete It does not increase any strength
strength considerably of the concreting of that particular
structure
06 The per liter cost is cheaper The per liter cost is not cheaper
= Rs. 0.20 / Liter = Rs. 0.70 / Liter approximately
