 What is a community?

A community is a group of people who live and work in

the same place.

The people who live in a community and belong to a

community are called citizens.

Citizens in a community may belong to different

cultures. People often bring some of their culture to a
community. They share their foods, clothing, music and
art.

Following Rules and Laws

The rules that a community makes are

called laws. Laws keep order in a
community and keep people safe. For
exaple, traffic laws help people travel
safely.

These laws are put by the government

which is in charged of creating them.
