Film distribution is the process of making a movie available for viewing

by an audience. This is normally the task of a professional film
distributor, who would determine the marketing strategy for the film.
These are 6 different types of releases

1. Pre-studio era
2. Standard release
3. Simultaneous release
4. Straight-to-video release
5. Internet release
6. Shrinking of the theatrical window

There are many different types of distribution e.g. theatrical,

international, home video, early distribution windows
When a film is initially produced, a feature
film is often shown to audiences in a movie
cinema. Typically, one film is the featured
presentation (or feature film). Before the
1970s, there were "double features. Today,
the bulk of the material shown before the
feature film consists of previews for
upcoming movies, which are commonly
known as trailers and paid advertisements.
the standard release routine for a movie is
regulated by a business model called "release
windows
In the standard process, a movie is first released
through cinemas
Then, after approximately 16 and one-half weeks,[it
is released to VHS and VOD services (entering its
video window).
After an additional number of months, it is usually
released to Pay TV, and approximately around a
year to 2 years later after its cinema release date,
it is made available for free-to-air TV.
Film festivals
A film festival is an organised, extended
presentation of films in one or more
cinemas or screening venues, usually in a
single city or region. They even show some
films outdoors.
Films may be of recent date and, depending

upon the festival's focus, can include

international and domestic releases.
Marketing

the action or business of promoting and
selling products or services, including market
research and advertising.
What is the difference between marketing

an distributing?
Marketers take an idea and spread it far and
wide. Distributors build a channel that they
control and that is used to connect things to
people.
Marketing for the movie

Trailer

franchises like McDonalds because of there
target audience. Sing movie is targeted at
kids therefore, they promote the movie
through kids meals and adverts on kids
channels.
Whereas a other movies, such as horror

Box office
Abox officeorticket officeis a place where

an event. The box office also determines the
success of a film.
The money that the film has raised gets
divided between the producers, movie studio,
distribution companies, writers, actors etc.
however the money is not equally divided.
How do cinemas make their money?
Most of the money from ticket sales goes
back to the movie studio. A film booker
leases a movie to a particular cinema for a
set period of weeks.
The Cinema make their money by selling
Popcorn, nachos, candy and drinks. This is
the main reason why the prices of the
products they sell are high in order for the
