Introduction-Customer Benefits
Existing Capabilities:
1. The CME serves as a wizard to reparent base stations and supports the GSM and UMTS base stations
reparenting between BSC6900s or between BSC6910s of the same patch
version.
2. The conversion components for reparenting base stations are available from RAN15.0. The CME equipped with
the conversion components supports reparenting GSM or UMTS base stations
between BSC6900 and BSC6910 of the same patch version.

Customers' requirements:
1. After the BSC6910 is launched in RAN15.0, customers who have purchased this product need to reparent base
stations from the BSC6900 to the BSC6910 on the live network.
2. Technically, if the R version of the BSC6900 is different from that of the BSC6910, the BSC6900 often needs to be
upgraded to the same version as that of BSC6910. However, the upgrade is
impossible for special reasons on certain sites and thereby, the requirement for
reparenting base stations from the BSC6900 to the BSC6910 of a different R
version arises.
3. Currently, only NodeBs need to be reparented from the BSC6900 to the BSC6910 of a different R version and
GSM base stations do not have such a requirement.

Competitiveness: The capability of competitors in this field is unknown. This demand is put forward because of Huawei's
new product.

Huawei must be able to reparent base stations from the BSC6900 to the BSC6910 of a different R
version.

Operation Guide: 3.1 Manually Adjusting the
Reparenting Scripts and Reparenting Rollback
Scripts
Notes
of the Original BSC
The reparenting scripts of the original BSC include the following operations: remove base stations; add external cells;
add or delete neighboring relationships.
The reparenting rollback scripts of the original BSC include the following operations: add base stations, cells, and so on;
add or remove external cells; add or delete neighboring relationships.

Perform the following operations to adjust the scripts:

If the original BSC version is RAN15.0 or later, perform the following operations:
1.Log in to the LMT of the PC OMU. Run the SWP OMUAREA command to switch to the workspace of the BSC of an
earlier version which is consistent with the original BSC version.
2.On the LMT, choose Device Maintenance > BSC > Batch Configuration. Click Preactivate to verify the scripts.
Then modify the scripts according to the prompted error information.

If the original BSC version is earlier than RAN15.0, perform the following operations:
1. Log in to the LMT of the PC OMU. Run the SWP OMUAREA command to switch to the workspace of the BSC of
an earlier version which is consistent with the original BSC version.
2. On the Batch tab page, execute the reparenting scripts and reparenting rollback scripts in sequence. Modify the
incorrect MML scripts and then execute the scripts again from the modified script.

Precautions (FAQs)
1. How to obtain the neighboring BSCs? If I query all the GSM and UMTS
neighboring BSCs of the original and destination BSCs and import the data of
the neighboring BSCs to the standalone CME, will the amount of the data be
too large?

If you can determine the neighboring BSCs in the reparenting scenario, you only
need to import the data of these neighboring BSCs into the standalone CME. If you
cannot, adopt this method as well to avoid missing neighboring cells. In the actual
situation, if the reparenting scripts for a neighboring BSC are not generated, this
neighboring BSC is not involved in the reparenting.

2. Will the NodeB licenses change after the reparenting?

If the U2000 does not allocate new licenses to the NodeB after the reparenting, the
NodeB licenses remain unchanged.
