PROCESS/MECHANISM RELATED

TO SKELETAL SYSTEM
How it works?
The bones in our body use oxygen and give off waste
products, the bones contain active tissues that
consumenutrients. Bones provide a firm frame known
as the skeleton, this frame protects soft organs in our
body. The way bones work are just like levers, they
work with the muscles to produce body movement.
When blood calcium levels decrease below normal,
calcium releases from the bones so that there will be a
good amount of supply for metabolic needs. When
blood calcium levels are increased, the extra calcium is
stored in the bone matrix. The dynamic process of
releasing and storing calcium goes on almost
continuously.
Bone Formation and
Development
Ossificationis the process by which
bone is formed. Some bones (e.g. the
flat bones of the skull) are formed in
one stage from the connective
tissue. This process is known as
intramembranous or direct
ossification.
intramembranous ossification,
compact and spongy bone develops
directly from sheets of mesenchymal
(undifferentiated) connective tissue.
The flat bones of the face, most of
the cranial bones, and the clavicles
(collarbones) are formed via
intramembranous ossification
endochondral ossification, bone
develops byreplacinghyaline
cartilage. Cartilage does not become
bone. Instead, cartilage serves as a
template to be completely replaced
by new bone. Endochondral
ossification takes much longer than
intramembranous ossification. Bones
at the base of the skull and long
bones form via endochondral
ossification.
Movement/Muscular
The skeletal system is crucial for any muscle
movement.Skeletal muscle, a type of
voluntary muscle in our body, is attached to
bone by tendons. The bicep muscle is
attached to bones in the shoulder and your
elbow at the other end. When you contract
the bicep, the muscle shortens. Since it's
attach to a bone at each end, the contraction
pulls your lower arm up as the muscle
shortens.
Hematopoiesis
Deep inside the calcium matrix of bone
is a spongy part called thebone
marrow. Bone marrow containsstem
cells, or cells that can become other
types of cells. These hematopoietic
stem cells divide into any type of blood
cell. They make all white blood cells for
your immune system, your red blood
cells, and platelets for blood clotting.
Integumentary system
It works with the Integumentary
system by giving the skin an object
to form to.
