REGISTRATION FORM HIGHLIGHTS


Agriculture - Fundamentals of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource Systems. Students will be able
to perform: Summarizing the evolution of production agriculture. Differentiate between animal welfare
and ethical treatment of animals. Explain skills and principles used in dairy, swine, beef, livestock,
poultry and vegetable production. Demonstrate skills and principles used in nursery production.
Examine good work habits, and career planning in agriculture production.
TSAIntroduction to Technology: Technology Student Associations creative minds come together in
this class to complete projects in robotics, structural modeling, flight, dragster, digital photography,
promotional design and much more. Work individually or in teams to create projects to submit in
competitions at the district, state and national competitions. Prior TSA or SolidWorks experience is
helpful.
Pre-Medical Program: Students will follow a challenging program that will prepare them to be highly
competitive in the medical field. Students will be exposed to laboratory activities related to medical
and allied health fields. This course is specifically designed for students who wish to be doctors, nurses,
veterinarians and other medical professionals. Applications will be made available to students
interested in this course with required teacher recommendations.
Orientation to Career Clusters: Student will learn how to type and learn in depth Microsoft Word,
Power Point, Excel and Access. Students will master these skills in order to earn the IC3 Industry
Certification in Microsoft. This course will assist students in making informed decision regarding their
future academic and occupational goals, and provide information regarding careers in seventeen
career clusters. Students can also join the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club.

Gifted Elective: The Advanced Academics course offered as an elective class gives students an opportunity to
learn more about themselves and develop skills that will aid them in reaching their true potential. Students will
be guided through the stresses and rigors of honors coursework while teaching students the necessary
academic habits needed to succeed. While identifying their strengths and areas of development, students will
participate in projects and competitions that will allow them to be innovative and creative while encouraging
the use of problem-solving and critical thinking. This course strives to make the curriculum both meaningful
and relevant to the gifted student while reinforcing an element of fun that can be found in learning.
Physical Education: Students will participate in a variety of sports including rock wall climbing, soccer,
basketball, volleyball, badminton, hand ball, pickle ball, running the mile, tennis, baseball, obstacle course, flag
football and other sports.
2D Art: Students will develop their skills in and explore further a variety of 2D mediums including but not
limited to graphite, charcoal, pastel, painting, and colored pencil.
Beginning Spanish: In this class, you will concentrate on building vocabulary and a basic understanding of
Spanish grammar. Students are introduced to numbers, colors, greetings, and common phrases, as well as
culture and geography. The concepts of noun/adjective agreement in number and gender, present tense
conjugations of verbs, and the differences in sentence structure are learned.
Music Wheel: All 6th grade students will take the music wheel as 1 of their 3 elective choices. It consists of
orchestra, band and chorus. Students will rotate through band, orchestra and chorus for approximately 1 week
each and then pick from one of these 3 choices and do that choice for the remainder of the school year.
This elective counts as 1 of your 3 choices.

Any Clothing, accessories, jewelry, or hair styles that may be a distraction to self or others or that have obscene or drug related phrases
Any clothing, accessories, or items that portray symbols or images that may be considered disruptive to the learning environment
Clothing with frays, holes, cuts or slits above the knee
Gym shorts or soccer shorts that are NOT proper length
Glass containers of any kind, skateboards, hoverboards,
Any Clothing or jewelry that can be used as a weapon
Aerosol sprays of any kind

Pants/Jeans
Dresses, shorts, skirts no shorter than the tips of the fingers with
arms and hands extended straight down
Tank tops are allowed only with an over shirt or under shirt with
sleeves. Tops must not be low cut and be long enough to tuck inside
the waistband. No sheer shirts unless tank top is worn underneath
No pajamas or slippers
Safe and appropriate footwear must be worn: tennis shoes &
sandels
Tunics or shirts may be worn over tight fitting slacks, but must be
finger tip length

THE FOLLOWING CLOTHING MAY BE


WORN: GIRLS
Pants, jeans and shorts that are reasonable, appropriate length
fastened at the waist. All undergarments must be covered.
Shirts no longer than finger tipped length and tank tops with
over shirts.
Safe and appropriate footwear must be worn
Warm ups that fit properly and are in good condition

Minor infractions of dress code, tardyness, horseplay, and
classroom disruption will be recorded by a signature on the
students Colt Card.
1st Offense Warning/Teacher signature, parent initial
2nd Offense - Warning/Teacher signature, parent initial
3rd Offense Meet with Student Support Specialist
4th Offense Referral/Teacher signature, Referral/SSS Signature,
Parent Contact, Loss of all privileges for the remainder of the
quarter
Major infractions may result in Out of school suspensions, In school
suspensions or after school detention

EXPECTATIONS
Do you like working on computers?
Would you prefer to type your assignments rather than hand write?
eSTEAM classes are language arts, science and social studies.
Orientation to Career Clusters is the required elective.
Fill out the eSTEAM application on Nolans website using Mircosoft
Word.
Submit your application to Carol Douglas at Nolan Middle School.
You will be notified by May 1st if you are excepted.
