ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS TO DESERT ECOSYSTEM

Global Warming and Human

development are threatening desert
survival.
Drought
Directly affect the growth of vegetation
Global warming is raising Earths
temperature, increasing the chances of
severe drought.
IRRIGATION

Desert experience very little

rainfall
Trees and plants will not be
able to live on the remaining
water
The salt levels in the soil make
the soil unable to support life
HUMAN ACTIVITY IN DESERTS

Human activity causes deserts to

expand.
Rapid loss of fertile land causes deserts
to expand.
Too much grazing causes plant life to be
destroyed.
Mining, improper farming methods, and
tree destruction causes desert
expansion.
