THE BRIDGE

an area at the front of the ship. It is also the room from which
the ship can be commanded.

CRANE

Type of machine used for lifting, loading and unloading cargo

BOW THRUSTER

A bow thruster is a transversal propulsion device built into, or


mounted to, the bow of a ship
FORECASTLE

Located on the bow of the ship, to secure the docking process


FUNNEL

Used to expel boiler steam and smoke or engine exhaust.


RUDDER

Device used to steer a ship


MAIN DECK

The principal deck of a vessel


HULL

A hull is the watertight body of a ship or boat.


SUPERSTRUCTURE

an upward extension of an existing structure above the Main


deck.
PORTSIDE

Left side of the ship


BULKHEAD

Bulkhead is an upright wall within the hull of a ship


BOTTOM

The lowest part of the ships hull


HOLDS

Part of the vessel that carries the cargo


WATERLINE

Refers to the line where the hull of a ship meets the water
surface.
TWEEN DECK

The lower decks onboard are referred as the tween decks.


STARBOARD SIDE

The right side of the ship
