Churchs Biblical Call
Luke 4 : 18
19
The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, because he has anointed
me to proclaim good news to
the poor. He has sent me to
proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty those
who are oppressed, to proclaim
the year of the Lord's favour.

LESSONS LEARNT

46
1.The Vicar is key in the successful
establishment of CCMTD in a parish
(good will and follow up

2.Establishment of CCMTD is critical and

needs the right people involved i.e.
Facilitators, CCMTD sub-committee etc.

47
3. CCMTD takes time, needs patience,
commitment, dedication and allocation
of resources e.g. St Marks Westlands,
St Polycarp Mlango Kubwa

4. The Vicar needs to carefully appoint

the point person for CCMTD in the
Parish (one of the church leaders)
48
CHALLENGES

49
1.Slow establishment of recommended CCMTD
structures in the parishes e.g. a number of
parishes either without or not engaging
missions committee for CCMTD

2.CCMTD systems are not functioning

smoothly (Monitoring and follow up systems,
communication and feedback mechanisms)

50
3. Low engagement of
congregations for CCMTD

4.Some facilitators feeling not

supported sufficiently by their
Churches (support is not 51
5.Slow progress in outreach in
some Parishes e.g. few groups
formed after engaging for 3
years

6.Low level of spiritual inputs in

the groups (economic is good) 52
5.Weak data management and
reporting in the parishes

6.Expectations from the

communities e.g. financial aid
53
Way
Forward
54
Establishment of lacking CCMTD structures
and systems and the strengthening of
existing ones
Enhance Evangelism to the groups
Enhance CCMTD data management,
communication and reporting in the Parishes
Enhance Church envisioning and
congregation engagement for CCMTD
55
Facilitate CCMTD inter-parish and
diocesan reviews
Engage new Parishes for CCMTD
from July 2017
Document and publish a working
CCMTD model contextualized for
urban slums with Nairobi diocese
as a case study
56
CCMTD week from 29th May to 31st
June with a climax of a rally on 3rd
June. This is to:
a.do casework of what the diocese is doing to
alleviate poverty (economic, social and
spiritual)
b.profile the work of SHG members to other
stakeholders e.g. beadwork
c. within the week, SHG and church members
will give back to the community in social work,
community clean up and uplifting the sick 57
