 September 1 st 1964- The official opening
of the school in Oprisani neigbourhood,
Micro II, getting the name of Secondary
school No. 8, having 12 classrooms and 2
laboratories, 464 pupils in 16 classes
with Romanian as the mother tongue,
guided by 20 teachers and school
masters.
1967: a modern and well equipped
gymnasium is opened
1973: the sports grounds are arranged
1975: the workshops are built, with the
help and participation of the schools
committee of parents.
 1977: a new block is added to the
main building having 9 classrooms.
1978- 1979: the first classes with
Hungarian as the mother tongue
appears
1984-1985: school population
reaches 2,000.
1990: the first classes with
volleyball as the main speciality
appear
1992- 1993: the fist intensive
English teaching classes appear
June 3 rd 1993 the school receives
the name IOAN OPRIS by the
name of the local hero and priest,
who was one of the supporters of
Romanian school.
Since 1996: the number of students
has remained 1,400 divided into 56
classes studying in 2 shifts
1998-1999: the it laboratory is opened,
hawing 14 computers IBM-PC-486,
connected to the Internet
1998-1999: the school becomes a
representative institution of Romania
School System
1999-2000: the Internet is introduced
and the IT laboratorys material base is
enriched
2005-2006: the new IT laboratory was
equipped, having 10 computers in AeL system
the new part-time boarding school was created
psychological councelling lab was created
