STEERING TIE ROD END

Tie rods are attached on both ends of the steering rack and as
the pinion rolls over the slotted rack, they help push and pull the
front tires as the steering wheel is turned. Tie rods offer an
important function to a vehicle's steering and therefore a car's
overall safety.
BALL
SUSPENSION
JOINT

Ball joints connect the control arm to the

steering knuckle. The ball joint is a pivot
between the wheels and the suspension of your
vehicle. In the front suspension, on most
vehicles, there are upper and lower ball
joints on both sides
SUSPENSION CONTROL
ARM

The control arms of a vehicle connect a vehicle's

steering rack to the wheels of the car, and they hold
the wheels to the car's frame. Control arms allow
the wheels to move and manage the motion of the
wheels by pivoting.
STABILIZER LINK
Stabilizer links act as components of auto suspensions, connecting
several other parts that take much of the punishment as you pass over pot
holes and other road imperfections.
Function :- modern cars use segmented suspensions. Stabilizer or sway
bars have stabilizer links. The stabilizer bar holds pairs of wheels
connected, while stabilizer links hook this larger piece with arms that go
up to the wheels themselves. Ball joint connections enable turning and
suspension travel.
Significance :- stabilizer bars links improve handling and shock
absorption, keeping the car from swaying too much as you turn--which
could lead to loss of control. Adding stabilizer links between the main bars
and the wheels refines this process of control, so cars handle "tight."
DRAG LINK
A drag link is a steering gear item in a vehicle that changes the rotary motion of a crank or the
steering box to a second crank or link in a different plane or axis. This is used in a four-link steering
system and is not found in a rack and pinion steering system. The drag link converts the sweeping
motion of the steering box to the linear motion needed to pull the tie rods, and ultimately turn the
vehicle's wheels.
A major component of the steering system, the drag link can also affect the vehicle's toe in or toe
out and must be adjusted when aligning the front end of a vehicle. A worn drag link can affect a
vehicle's handling and steering properties, making the vehicle wander while driving down the road.
A severely worn one can often be confused with a soft tire.
The drag link is often overlooked when it comes to vehicle maintenance. The drag link should be
checked periodically and greased when applicable. Oil change intervals are the proper time to
inspect steering components. Check for loose ends by pulling on the rods by hand and taking note
of any movement. These parts should be tight and any feeling of movement requires further
inspection and proper maintenance up to and including replacement.
