Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry was born in

1929 in an Irish Parsi family.

Pallonji, the son of Shapoorji is married

to Pat (Patsy) Perin Dubash, who was
born in September 1939 in Dublin, due
to which he converted into an Irish
citizen.

Pallonji gave up his Indian citizenship in

2003 to obtain Irish national , because
India does not yet allow dual
nationality.

He is an Irish Indian construction tycoon and
chairman of Shapoorji Pallonji Group,through which
he owns Shapoorji Pallonji Construction Limited,
Forbes Textiles and Eureka Forbes Limited.

According to Forbes, his wealth is estimated to be

US$16.9 billion as of September 2016.

With his 18.4% stake in Tata Sons, he is the single

largest shareholder in India's largest private
conglomerate Tata Group.

actions do the talking. Pallonji Mistry, quiet demeanor and sharp
business acumen allowed him to quietly build an empire that has
withstood the vagaries of time.
Pallonji Mistry was probably one of the first Indian businessmen in
the 1970s to venture overseas. He made a gutsy move to win the
job of building the palace of HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said in
Muscat.
In presence of Americans and European tough competitors, He
cleverly won over the Sultan by exposing him to the splendour of
the Mughal courts epitomized in the iconic film Mughal-e-Azam.
Pallonji Mistry thought ahead of his time. His successful delivery of
the royal palace established Shapoorji Pallonji as the first Indian
construction company to officially complete a project abroad.
His brave decision to take his business out of India paid dividends,
and with hard work, cemented his glory in the Middle East.

to spread its tentacles in the construction space. It
swiftly gained popularity and bagged a string of big
projects ranging from schools, hospitals,
commercial buildings, IT parks to automobile
plants. This resulted in some iconic structures in
Mumbai, namely, the Oberoi Towers hotel, the
World Trade Centre, residential structures like
