This app is called Phonics and Literacy and serves
as a handy one-step guide to terms that you are likely
to be using on a regular basis when teaching phonics
and literacy. It helps children practice their phonics
and literacy by allowing them to first scroll through
the options of what they want to work on, then
choosing out of the list of terms. Once they have
chosen a term, they can tap it be taken straight to
the meaning. They can then press the home button to
be taken back to the main list of terms where they
can continue to practice. They are also able to
bookmark a word they want to refer back to regularly,
like if theyre stuck on a word and want to flag it and
keep practicing. Within the phoneme section the
children can
learn what phonemes mean and practice

This app is called super scramble and serves as a way for children to
improve on their vocabulary. With 1000s of 5 letter words within this app,
they will never see the same puzzle twice. The object of the game is to
unscramble 5 letter words as quickly as they can. They can play in 2 modes:
Endless, where they get 20 seconds to unscramble each 5 letter word which
tests how long they can keep unscrambling words without running out of
time; Blitz, where they have 3 minutes to unscramble as many 5 letter words
as they can. They can use 3 skips per game if they get stuck on a particular
word.
This app is appropriate as it would be great for kindergarteners and 1st
graders as they advance in their vocabulary and their word recognition skills.
Not only does it help test their ability to come up with words given letters,
but it tests their capability to recognize words as quickly as they can due to
the timer.
Beginning Sounds
Interactive Game -

This app is called Beginning Sounds Interactive Game, where children
match fun, familiar images that share a common beginning sound. It serves
as an on-screen sorting board that dispenses animated activity balls, each
with a picture representing a beginning sound. They start by choosing 3
sounds then they must touch and drag the balls into the correct spots on
the board. It covers 18 different sounds with a range of different objects
and pictures to go with each sound.
This app is appropriate, as it can be used for ages 4-7, or pre-school,
kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade. It is meant for children to develop
phonemic awareness, as they are recognizing words of objects based off of
the picture they see, then discovering their beginning sound and matching
it with a word that has the same beginning sound.
