INTRODUCTION
Single superphosphate (SSP) was the
first commercial mineral fertilizer .
It led to the development of the modern
plant nutrient industry.
This material was once the most
commonly used fertilizer, but other
phosphorus (P) fertilizers have largely
replaced SSP because of its relatively low
P content.
SSP is one of the cheapest forms of
phosphate.
Can be blended with other fertiliser
SINGLE SUPER PHOSPHATE
(SSP)
SSP means Single super phosphate. It is widely used
fertilizer in India.
It provides 15% of total phosphate requirement of the
country. It has lowest price per kg, preferred by small and
marginal farmers.
This is multi-nutrient fertilizer containing P2O5 as primary
nutrient and Sulphur and Calcium as secondary nutrient.
It is the cheapest source of sulphur for the soil. Only
phosphate fertilizer which can utilize Indian rock
phosphate deposits.
Least foreign exchange per unit of P2O5.
It utilizes acid effluent from other chemical industry and

GRANULAR
SINGLE SUPER PHOSPHATE
(GSSP)
Granulated Single Super Phosphate is
extensively used in mechanized farming.
As compared to PSSP, it is slightly costlier
due to the cost of granulation.
The use of granulated single super
phosphate is more beneficial to the crops
as compared to the powdered form.
The greatest benefit of using the
granulated product is that it dissolves
slowly in the water present in the soil so it

TRIPLE SUPER
PHOSPHATE (TSP)
TSP is normally applied where
plants are grown in soils with low
or average levels of phosphorus.
As a low cost source of phosphorus,
TSP is the main substitute for
Single Superphosphate in cropping
blends.
The product is used mainly in
blends with DAP and MOP.

SPECIFICATION OR FEATURES & FIGURES
OF EQUIPMENT
1. BALL MILL
It has length of 4-5m.
It also has total
capacity of 60 ton.
Ball has weight of 20
tons and Cell has
weight of 40 tons.
It has 80, 90, 100 mm
It is made up of balls in diameter
Mild Steel.
It grinds or crushes
the rock phosphate
at the rate of 15-16
tons/hr.
2. DEN CUTTER

It is used for drying purpose.

It completes one rotation in 45 min.

REACTION INVOLVED
IN SSP
Major Reactions:-
Ca3 (PO4)2 + 2H2SO4 + H2O CaH4 (PO4)2.H2O +2CaSO4

Minor Reactions:-
CaCO3 + H2SO4 CaSO4 + H2O + CO2
3CaO + P2O5 Ca3(PO4)2
R2O3 + 3H2SO4 R2(SO4)3 + 3H2O

ENVIRONMENTAL

EFFECTS
The evolution of fluorine containing
gases is a major problem in the SSP
Production process.
The arise from the fluoride and silicon
contained as impurities in the rock.
These elements combine with the water
to form flurosilic acid (H2SiF6).
Any excess silicon dissolves (in acid) to
form SiO2.H2O. Typical rock phosphate
contains about 8% Silica and 3% Fluorine
by weight.
The temperature condition in the den
