Using Clickers in the
Classroom

Overview:
What are clickers?
How are clickers used as a tool in
classrooms?
How are clickers used in my classroom?
What are clickers?
A classroom response system is a set of
hardware and software that facilitates teaching
activities.
A teacher poses a multiple-choice or another
type of question to studentsvia a computer
projector.
Each student submits an answer to the question
using a handheld transmitter (a clicker).
Software on the teachers computer collects the
students answers and data.
The teacher makes on the fly instructional
choices in response to the data .
How are clickers used as
tools in the classroom?
Maintain students attention and promote active
student engagement during lessons.
Promote discussion and collaboration among
students during class.
Encourage participation from each and every
student in a class.
Create a safe space for shy and unsure students
to participate in class.
Check for student understanding during class.
Teach in a way that adapts to the immediate
learning needs of students.
Rapidly grade in-class quizzes.
How are Clickers used in my
Classroom?

Used almost daily

Rocks and Weathering

Weathering & Erosion

Weathering- the breaking down of

rocks and other Earth materials at
Earths surface.
Weathering is caused by heat, cold,
water, ice and gases in the air.

Erosion- the movement of rock

pieces and other Earth materials on
Earths surface.
Erosion is caused by wind, water, ice and
Mechanical Weathering

Mechanical Weathering Rock is

broken into smaller pieces. The
makeup of the rock does not
changes.
Ice Wedging- caused by freezing and
thawing
Abrasion-When rocks are scraped like
sandpaper from water, ice and wind.
Plant roots- can cause mechanical
weathering.
Chemical Weathering

Chemical Weathering- the makeup

of rocks change.
Acid rain
Living Things- Plants
Carbon Dioxide
Iron in rocks turn into rust
Water dissolves rock
