Looking back at your Preliminary task what do you feel

you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
EDITING
Overall, through editing the final products were both conveyed
to the audience effectively but editing from the preliminary task
to the final product was improved greatly. Although in the
preliminary task was 22 seconds, this allowed us to get taster of
what would be in store for creating the final product. As well as
this, we collected a lot more footage for the two minute sequence
which allowed us to create an effective piece as we were able to
be highly selective with what shots were complied together
concluding the filming segment.

When doing the preliminary task we included a

variety of different shots to show we knew how to
use the camera. Although we were able to complete
this, due to lack of knowledge of this professional
camera some of the shots werent level; as well as
this there wasnt a particular story behind it. From
doing this task it minimised the chance of mistakes
being made in the final production.

When filming our final production our group used the Canon
700D as this is the camera I felt most comfortable with being the
camera person at the start, however, due to some problem within
the group, I became the editor. Using variety of different shots
we were able to connote a meaning through each carefully
thought out shot for example. The Mists superiority is
established when he is watching Hannah getting up as it
connotes an ominous atmosphere to the audience. As well as this
it would make the audience fearful for Hannah.
180 DEGREE RULE
When filming our preliminary task this was effective practice towards
preparing our final production. This is because we would be able to
rectify anything that went wrong to ensure we produced the best work
possible. One thing that was done well was sticking to the 180 degree
rule. Although a variety of shots werent used in our preliminary task
compared to the final production; when we did film shots were planned
which allowed us to practice sticking to the 180 degree rule in order to
not to break the continuity. Being a part of the editing process I noticed
how important was to keep consistency from shot to shot in order to
create a verisimilitude.
WHAT I LEARNED
From doing the preliminary task and final production I have learned
how to improve my skills when using a professional camera. By using
both the Sony Z1 and the Canon 700D, which allowed me to practice to
use different types of camera. If I were to do this again I would be less
of trial and error and experience. From being the editor, I have gained
knowledge on how to add special effect and make the video flow which is
evident from our final production. Although what was produced was of a
good quality , time management could be improved. This is because we
filmed over a few consecutive weeks which concluded in less time to edit
and upload. If this would done, it would allow me to be more creative
with shot types.
