How does the
product represent
social groups?
Age group and gender
While my magazine could be consumed by any social
group, age or gender it is mainly focused towards
teenagers and young adults (16-25) of no specific
gender, this is due to indie genre of music being mainly
consumed by the younger generations of every gender.
Class

The magazine is aimed at people with average jobs such as


manual laborersor students with part time jobs as they would
have some disposable income. Therefore it's aimed at lower
classes and the middle class such as D and E rather than the
upper classes due to the contents of the magazine being
consumed more by the lower classes. Furthermore it is not aimed
at the upper classes due to them sterotypically perfering
different music genres such as classic over indie music.
Furthermore the clothing within the featured images within my
publication are typically seen as working and middle class due to
the upper classes wanting to see suits.
Race, Ethnicity and Sexuality

Furthermore my magazine does not focus or


focused towards any one race or ethnicity. In
addition to this the magazine is not focused
towards any individual sexuality. Overall my
magazine represents all social groups as equal
and tries to be as unbiased as possible.
Colours, Typography and Images.

The colours of my magazine are wide spread and out going, the
publication has lots of weird colours such as bright pinks and purples.
This shows the audience is out going and different as the colours a
vibrant, these traits are often associated with the indie genre of music.
The Typography for my magazine could also be described in the same
way, it being different and bold and eye catching; further showing how
the audience is fun and out going.
The images used throughout my publication are very varied and
different for example despite my front cover being black and
white it is still bright showing the fun experimental side of the
indie genre of music and my audience. This bright colour scheme
and also be seen in my double page spread.
What kind of institution might
distribute product and why?
During my research and planning stage of my magazine publication
I searched for three publications similar to mine. Some of these
publications are of the same publisher the Bauer Media Group. This
group produce magazines such Q magazine and the now
discontinuedmagazine The Fly. The majority of their publications
are very popular and successful. This leads me to believe they
would be a very institution to publish and market my magazine.
The magazine could be sold in all different locations and stores such
as local shops and large stores such as Tesco. It would mainly be
sold in towns as thats where my target audience would mainly be
living.
