Engine & transmission data exchange

via CAN-Bus

CAN Bus
Features of EAS

Electronic management ensures perfect, smooth co-ordination of engine,

clutch and transmission when starting and changing gear.
The driver only has to select the starting gear.

No manual clutch actuation necessary.

System backed up by an emergency program and an emergency clutch pedal.

Electronic gear selection, which can be influenced by the driver at any time.
Benefits of EAS
Basic design
The modular construction means that individual components can be easily extended/improved
All data relating to travelling condition can be accessed because of communication via CAN

Wear
Extended clutch life due to the following factors:

Low engagement rpm when starting off

The engine speed is matched to the transmission input rate during gear shifts
Clutch overheating warning in the event of the vehicle being driven for long periods of time in the slip range,
which is not allowed
Precisely controlled clutch torques protect units

Drivers job made simpler

Driving safety increased due to simplified operation
Hill starts simple
Possible to switch to automatic operation manually at any time via the drive selector
Same operating concept as Telligent gear shift in semi-automatic operation

Fuel consumption
By selecting the optimum gear, from the point of view of fuel consumption, the automatic gear-shift lever
makes the most of even small economic benefits independently of the driver
Fuel consumption is thus reduced compared to "average" drivers
Safety Concept

The objective of the safety concept is to guarantee that the vehicle

operates safely in the event of any abnormal events occurring.

Protection system
The protection system is a component of the electronic control system.
In the event of a controlling component/subsystem of the EAS failing, the vehicle is first of all
placed in a specified, safe operating mode. No action is required on the part of the driver.

Emergency travel system

Then, the driver can activate an emergency travel system. The operating scope of this depends
on the nature and gravity of the defect.
In any case, the clutch is activated via an emergency clutch pedal, which can be extended.
The vehicle can continue to be driven thanks to the EAS control system.
