Internship goals and
objectives
Internship goals and objectives
Internship represents the capstone of a new
psychologists formal academic training and
his/her induction into the profession. In keeping
with the general mission and philosophy of the
training program, it is designed to assist interns
in developing scientific and practice skills
appropriate to those of a generalist working with
adults at the competency of an entry-level
psychologist.
Internship goals and objectives
For the student, internship provide an
opportunity to explore career opportunities
with potential full-time employers, learn
new skills, gain needed work experience for
professional certifications, begin to develop
a network of professional colleagues,
enhance their professional resume, and
pursue their future dreams.
Translation difficulties
Translation difficulties
Robert Frost famously said that poetry is what
gets lost in translation. By this he meant that the
nuances and aesthetic qualities of language are
essential to poetry, and that those features are
precisely what do not translate.
The difficulties of translation depend to a great
degree on what you are translating and the nature
of the two languages involved.
Translation difficulties
A technical manual, which uses simple and
precise language, will be much easier to translate
than works of imaginative literature, which are
steeped in literary traditions, allusions, and
figurative language. A major linguistic obstacle
to translation is the problem of conceptual
mapping. In simple cases, the relationship
between signifier (a word) and concept
(signified) is similar across numerous languages.
Translation difficulties
The French "chat", Latin "feles", and English
"cat" all are based on similar concepts of what
constitutes the biological species. For other
terms, the conceptual boundaries vary across
languages. For example, the boundaries between
colors vary from language to language. The
Berber or Amazigh term "azegzaw" covers a
range of shades that English separates into
"blue" and "green".
Translation difficulties
The texts I have translated were about tourism where
I faced with some difficulties. This difficulties are
frequently encountered in translated tourist texts.
For example: grammar and spelling, lexis and
semantic, pragmatics and discourse, omission,
repetitions an additions.
Almost in any tourist text we observe abundant
spelling mistakes. For example: At the end you will be
*drived to your hotel (driven).
Translation difficulties
Lexical semantic problems can be resolved by
consulting dictionaries, glossaries, terminology,
banks and experts. These problems include
terminology alternatives, neologism, semantic
gaps, contextual synonyms and antonyms.
For example: *Swimm instead of diven. Here
the idea changes and, although the latter
includes the former the action is not the same
and, thus, they are not interchangeable.
Requirements for the practice
portfolio
The practice portfolio must draw the
following logical structure:
Cv in Europass format in foreign language A
Cooperation agreement signed by the student, the dean and the
person in charge of the ..where the student carry out the internship
Feature signed by the person responsible for the trainee internship
.
Translation 10 specialized texts
A glossary of terms in language A
Specification with details of all the activities that were carried out
during the practice translation
A report on the student workload during practice drawn up in
foreign language A
Conclusion
Conclusion
The most important conclusion to be drawn from
our study is the need to professionalize
translation and to reduce the commission of these
translations to non-professionals or unskilled
translators. Despite recent studies and research
carried out in the framework of tourism and
translation, there is still to much to do. In this
vein, this paper also intends to open research
lines so as to encourage and promote studies on
different branches.
