TRIGONOMETRY is the branch of mathematics that deals
with the relationships between the sides and the angles of triangles
and the calculations based on them, particularly the trigonometric
functions

PLANE TRIGONOMETRY is the branch of

Trigonometry that deals with triangles in two dimensional
plane
ANGLE
It is the figure formed by two rays sharing a common
end point, called the vertex of the angle
Angles and Angle Measure

Angle a figure formed by two rays with a common endpoint

Sides two rays

Vertex the common initial point

Initial Side the starting position of the ray as it turns

Terminal Side the turning ray

Types of Angle Zero Angle an angle whose
According to Angle measure is 00
Measurement
Acute Angle an angle whose measure
is greater than 00 but is
less than 900

Right Angle an angle whose

measure is 900
Obtuse Angle an angle whose
measure is greater
than 900 but is less
than 1800

Reflex Angle an angle whose

measure is
greater than
1800 but is less
than 3600

Straight Angle an angle whose

measure is 1800
The Six Trigonometric Functions
sin = y/r
cos = x/r
tan = y/x In the cartesian plane
sec = r/x
,
csc = r/y
r
cot = x/y y

From the top of tower A, the angle of elevation of
the top of the tower B is 46. From the foot of
tower B, the angle of elevation of the tower A is
28. Both towers are on a level ground. If the height
of tower B is 120 m, how high is tower A ?

a. 47.4 m b. 40.7 m

c. 74.7 m d. 42.7 m
