Reflection
Final Project Teaching II

We do not learn so much from
experience as we do from reflecting on
our experience.

6. Conclusion
1. Introduction
Reflective writing involves a process of
self-assessment that can be meaningful
and memorable.
The lesson reflected focused on a second
grade science block about What are Some
Animal Adaptations.
It was a very well organized session,
needing few adjustments.
2. Teaching Methods

Inquiry method was used at the beginning

in order for students to understand
adaptation.
Most students were engaged
and motivated.
3. Style of Learning in the
Classroom

An interactive PowerPoint presentation was

prepared, to be follow all throughout the
session.
It was an active, student-centered
classroom. All students were discovering
new knowledge by discovery learning and
constructivism.
3. Style of Learning in the
Classroom
Constructivism was used to get to the idea
of adaptation. The students were influenced
by their background,
culture to answer the
questions.
Students should have been grouped
differently, friends should have been
separated for better classroom management.
3. Style of Learning in the
Classroom .....

Behaviorism theory
should have been used in order to ensure
better classroom management.
As Pavlov, classical conditioning could
have been used to calm students, for
example counting from 1 to 5 to have total
calm or silence.
3. Style of Learning in the
Classroom

More scaffolding should have been more

appropriate during How Color Helps an
Ant activity.
The word hypothesis should have been
better introduced to the students, and how
to develop a hypothesis.
3. Style of Learning in the
Classroom

All hypotheses should have been written on

the board to go through them at the end of
the activity.
As Skinner believed, the students could
have given positive reinforcement once
they came up with a hypothesis.
4. Lesson Plan

The 6 parts of the lesson plan were clear.

BUT:
The objectives were clearly stated in the
lesson plan, but not during the actual
lesson. Only the outline of the lesson was
discussed with the students.
4. Lesson Plan

The introduction to the activity How Color

Helps an Ant was not clear. Students were
lost and did not understand what a
hypothesis was. This step should be more
elaborated for later use.
4. Lesson Plan

For the same activity, there should have

been more challenge. The number of black
and red squares should have been very
different, in order for students not to deduct
the number easily, after counting the first
color.
4. Lesson Plan

Part V of the lesson plan is Evaluation.

The students were properly assessed in this
lesson, but no evaluation was performed.
A rubric should be created to evaluate the
homework.
5. Assessment
Students were properly assessed
Types of assessments:
1. Formative assessment as homework
2. Formative assessment as closure
6. Conclusion
For the next use of this lesson plan, several
steps should be fixed and elaborated.
I have targeted my teaching philosophy. It
was an active class, and students
discovered and constructed their own
knowledge.
Thanks!
