1
ABSTRACT
This project describe the design and analysis of a
compact size planar micro strip BPF.
This structure of band pass filter with low insertion
loss is suitable for WIMAX band selecting.
The architecture is a resonating structure that consists
of slotted line capacitive and inductive load.
The development of the microstrip filter is simulated
by IE3D.

2
Proposed System
Micro strip Band Pass Filter
Bimetallic structure. One surface is the filter
geometry and other one is ground at which the
reflection of wave occurs.
Use a cascade structure of alternating high and
low impedance lines act as semi lumped
elements.
High impedance line act as series inductors and
low impedance line act as shunt capacitors.
3
WIMAX
Speed of 70 Mbps at 50 kilometers with line-of-site.

Much faster deployment of new users comparing to

wired networks.

Single station can serve hundreds of users.

It is standardized, and same frequency equipment

should work together.

Design
The resonant frequency fo = 2.4GHz
Relative Permittivity of dielectric substrate = 3
Upper cut-off frequency = 3GHz
Lower cut-off frequency = 1.9GHz
Loss tangent of substrate = 0.018
Thickness of substrate = 1.5mm
= C/fo = 0.125m
Width W= (c/2f)*sqrt(2/r+1) = 51mm

8
Advantages

Compact size.

Spurious rejections capability.

Low cost.

Easy integration with other components.

Slotted line inductive and capacitive load

9
APPLICATIONS
Residential or home area broadband internet
access.
Medium and small size business.
Backhaul networks for cellular base stations.
Wi-Fi hotspots.
Software Requirements: IE3D
