How do you describe the girl ?
What is an adjective ?
An adjective is a word
that tells us more about
a noun;
qualifies or modifies
a noun
a big dog
Why do we use adjectives?

We often use adjectives to


give more information
about things / people
For example:
He is a man. JIM CARREY

What kind of man is he?

He is a crazy man.
We can also compare
nouns by using the
comparative and
superlative forms of an
adjective.
Comparatives are used to
compare two things/people.

Which are the basic rules?


Adjectives Comparative
With short adjectives + er
tall taller (than)
short shorter (than)

With short adj. ending in e +r


- nice nicer (than)
- large larger (than)

With short adj. ending in a -y ier


consonant + y
- heavy heavier
