FIND THE RANGE
Range = H-L
Where in:
Range = Highest Score - Lowest Score
Range = 94-49
= 45
FIND THE NUMBER OF CLASSES
K = 1+3.3logN
Wherein:
K = number of classes
N = size of the data
K = 1+3.3log(52)
= 6.66 [round off]

MAKING THE FREQUENCY TABLE
Class Frequenc Class Class <Cf f(x)
Interval y (f) Boundary Mark (x)
(CB)
49-54
55-60
61-66
67-72
73-78
79-84
85-90
91-96
To find the class interval, determine the lowest score, add the
score with the class size then subtract it with one. Continue the
process until you reach the highest score
Class Frequenc Class Class <Cf f(x)
Interval y (f) Boundary Mark (x)
(CB)
49-54 3
55-60 3
61-66 3
67-72 7
73-78 12
79-84 10
85-90 7
91-96 7
Determine the frequency. You can also tally the scores for
an accurate counting.
Class Frequenc Class Class <Cf f(x)
Interval y (f) Boundary Mark (x)
(CB)
49-54 3 48.5-54.5
55-60 3 54.5-60.5
61-66 3 60.5-66.5
67-72 7 66.5-72.5
73-78 12 72.5-78.5
79-84 10 78.5-84.5
85-90 7 84.5-90.5
91-96 7 90.5-96.5
f=52 f(x)=3992
Simply multiply the frequency and the class mark to get f(x)
FINDING THE MEAN
f(x)
Mean =
3992
=
52
= 76.77
FINDING THE MEDIAN
In finding the median, you must first determine
which is the median class
Median Class =
2
52
=
2
= 26
Class Frequenc Class Class <Cf f(x)
Interval y (f) Boundary Mark (x)
(CB)
= + [ 4
]
Where r = 1 for first quartile
= 2 for second quartile
= 3 for third quartile
= lower class boundary of the quartile class
= sum of the frequencies
cf = cumulative frequency of the quartile class
= frequency of the quartile class
c = class size
But first you must find the quartile class with the
formula :
4
Wherein:
r = 1 for the first quartile
= 2 for the second quartile
= 3 for the third quartile
= sum of the frequencies
FINDING THE FIRST QUARTILE
So now we will use the formula
1 =
4
(1)(52)
=
4
= 13
Now find the class in which 13 can fit in
Class Frequency Class Class Mark <Cf f(x)
Interval (f) Boundary( (x)
