The cinema in mexico
Mexico was the first American country to know the cinema. Porfirio Diaz, who
despite his bad reputation was a great curious and promoter of art and science,
invited the Lumiere brothers to present before him his novel invention. However
it was not until a few decades later that the country entered the film industry.
Santa, of 1931 was the first sound film filmed in Mexico, directed by Antonio
Moreno and based on the homonymous novel of Federico Gamboa.
The society was divided, the upper class in its great houses of the colony Rome
with its servitude; The lower class, marginalized, forgotten and trampled in
obscure neighborhoods. Mexican cinema portrayed each of these realities, exalting
them, making them up, even transforming them into caricatures.
There were characters such as Cantinflas, Tin tan, Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete,
Mara Felix and Dolores del Ro, icons of cinema whose names resonate to this
day. Later the themes and genres were getting varied, comedy, drama,
tragicomedia, rumberas, even terror and western. By the 60s the cinema
experienced a decline, the production companies decided to lower the production
costs of the films.
At the end of the 50, after the death of the idol of the town, Pedro Infante, there
was a stage of rearrangement in the national cinema. "Los olvidados" of 1950 is a
great sample of this stage. "Los olvidados" showed a part of Mexico that had
never been seen on the big screen.
At the end of the 50's and early 60's, after the death of the idol of the town, the
handsome Pedro Infante, added to all this a time of disappointments in the
country; There was financial crisis, but more than this, the feminist revolution and
the lightness of the hippie era was at its peak almost everywhere in the world. The
sixties arrived, and with it short skirts, the free women who smoked and drank,
who had sex without cover, the men who slept with them, with all of them.
Third-person actors appeared, many of the times being brought on television to
make films that were rather extended chapters of their shows, such as the films of
the Polivoces with everything and the appearances of Chabelo or the films of
Doctor Candido Perez. Special mention deserves horror movies / comedy with
actors like Pedrito Fernndez, Lucerito and Tatiana.
By this time the great Mario Moreno "Cantinflas" continued filming and much,
but his characters had already become a shadow of what they were. For the 1980s,
the so-called "file system", which was nothing more than a cowboy book brought
to the big screen with characters such as Lyn May, Sasha Montenegro, Andrs
Garca, Csar Bono, Rafael Incln and Luis de Alba, became fashionable.
Until the end of the 90 that recovered part of what had lost. It was the film
Amores Perros by Alejandro Gonzlez Irritu, in 2000, when the so-called "new
Mexican cinema" began.
Some Mexican movies are: Los olvidados, Enamorada, Nosotros los pobres, El
automvil gris, Viento negro, Los tres Garca, Gngsters contra charros, Los tres
huastecos among other.
British Movies
Most representative films
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
The A clockwork orange is a fictional film, but it is also a document of his
time that represents the collective imaginary of his time, which recreates
situations, facts and ideas typical of society in the early 70's. In those times
the social disenchantment Had seized the youth, after the failure of the May
1968 revolution and alternative models to capitalism, such as hippie
philosophy or communism.
Most striking is that, after its release, many young Englishmen imitated the
protagonists and tabloids accused the film of provoking youthful chaos.
Stanley Kubrick, master and lord of the film distribution media, decided to
remove it from British cinemas, and did not re-release until after his death.

It was censored in the United States (rating X) and banned in the United
Kingdom and it was not until 2000, with Kubrick, who died in the United
Kingdom. In addition, the author of the book Anthony Burgess, considered
that the film was a misinterpretation of its work and ended up denying of it
by dangerous.
Quadrophenia (1979)
Based on the rock opera of the famous band The Who, Quadrophenia is a
film that portrays very well the English youth of the 60s, starting from the
base of two facing street bands: the mods and the rockers.

Its premiere was highly criticized since the film contained good doses of
violence and was on the screen the abuse of drugs, a subject that was taboo
for the English society at that time.
Quadrophenia is a flawless and faithful portrait. Perhaps its crudity is what
made the film version highly criticized, as it debuted at a time when the UK
had made a notable conservative turn.
Trainspotting (1996)
Trainspotting is one of the most important films of the 1990s and certainly
one of the most important in the history of Scottish cinema, if not the most
popular.
The controversy of the film was based on the use of drugs by the
protagonists which is often mistakenly seen as an apology, when in fact it was
the crude treatment that had never been done on the subject on the big
screen
