parameters re-calculated by BBRSE
Rotem harmonic generation data validation by measurements
Methodology still based on peak distortion
Compliance based on very short time planning levels

Changed parameters
the system was changed from booster to boosterless
system
traction transformer resistance was set at more realistic
value
train is represented using Norton equivalent, based on
voltage measurement at Lahat (March 2012)
Parameters that remained the same
train harmonic generation; we are still using Rotem data as
part of the train representation (scaled to line up with
measurements)
132kV data; one of the most critical data sets and we know
it is not complete and contains some anomalies
study methodology; we are still assuming the peak
distortion of every train

The harmonic voltage distortion levels calculated have dropped
dramatically
Some sites require different types of filters (reduced number of
excessive harmonics)
Some sites do not require filters at all

The final recommendation on whether to fit or not to fit filters at locations


which are marginal should be made on a risk-based analysis including:
The number and magnitude of exceedences
The cases in which exceedences occur likelihood
Final arrangements to be discussed with TNB and KTMB

Stage 3: validate the study predictions

Undertake measurements at 25kV and 132kV for one train and multiple
trains on the existing railway to calibrate the model
Simultaneous measurements from train and substation (25kV and 132kV)
Traction transformer impedance measurements
Repeat the harmonics study
Revise the 132kV data and model, as appropriate
Revise the harmonic generation based on measurements
Revise the summation rule based on measurements
Confirm the compliance requirements
Revised study should be undertaken with consideration of particular
requirements for filters design

Conclusions

All sites show significat filter reduction, with further improvements


expecteed
Enhanced Harmonic Study is being improved and is now showing more
realistic results, with more robust parameters and methodology
Methodology and application of limits to be confirmed (TNB)
Validation required which will entail further measurements train, 25kV,
132kV and traction transformer impedance
Procurement process has commenced
Validation process will be complete in time for commencement of
specification and detail design of filters, subject to testing taking place
