ELECTRONIC COMMERCE
ACT
History

The Electronic Commerce Act (ECA) or Republic Act No. 8792 was
signed into law on June 14, 2000.

The corollary Implementing Rules and Regulations, drafted by the


Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Budget
and Management (DBM), and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP),
were also issued on July 14, 2000.
E-Commerce Act

An act providing for the recognition and use of electronic


commercial and non-commercial transactions and documents,
penalties for unlawful use thereof and for other purposes
Its basically a world of business online. But its not only selling and
buying. Theres more to it than just Amazon or Ebay.
Its circulated around everything a business can do, but online, or
virtually.
Declaration of Policy
The state recognizes the vital role of information and
communications technology in nation building

Objective
This Act aims to facilitate domestic and international dealings,
transactions, arrangements, agreements,contracts and exchanges
and storage of information through electronics
Effects on social and ethical significance

UNRELIABLE
PayPal proved to be unreliable, as users put
their confidence and trust in this company ,
while later on, they could easily become a
victim of false transactions and money
transfers.

Reliability is how dependable one tends to be on an object.


For a source of e-commerce to be reliable it must:
RELIABLE Provide a comfortable user interface for its users, so that
they may easily use the program or website.
Have up-to-date data.
INTEGRITY
For the system to have integrity, it must contain accurate data that
is NOT tampered with.

But Is there a solution?


There is no full-proof solution, other than only using trusted sites and
services.
Security
ISSUE OF THEFT?
Identity theft occurs when someone obtains your personal information, such
as your credit card data or Social Security number, to commit fraud or other
crimes.
WHAT U CAN DO;
Protect your information.
Erase login information (usually stored in the cache of a browser), change
passwords occasionally and frequently.
Use your credit card instead of online payment services (eg: PayPal).
Use familiar websites with security control. There are scams of phising

If hackers obtain enough data (Login information and credit card number),
they basically provide the service enough authenticity to log in and use your
account.

You can use online payment services and by keeping your firewall
on, it could also prevent any more future access to your computer
and the information you have stored in it.
