Depression or general unhappiness
Anxiety and agitation
Moodiness, irritability, or anger
Feeling overwhelmed
Loneliness and isolation
Other mental or emotional health problems

1.The Problem: Stress in College Students
80% of college students experience stress daily,
and 34% of college student are diagnosed with depression
Treatment for depression is very effective; however, less than 25 % of
people with depression receive adequate care.
Unwillingness to seek help is another risk factor for suicide.

Defining the Scope: What happens if I dont get
help?
There are more than 1,000 suicides on college campuses per year.

Suicide is the third-leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 24.

One in 10 college students has made a plan for suicide.

Two-thirds of people that die by suicide are depressed at the time of their
death.

Among those that have major depression, the risk of death by suicide is 20
