employee can or would achieve in coming appraisal or

Performance planning is the first step of
performancemanagement.Performanceplanning
istheprocessofdeterminingwhatandhowajob
is to be done in such a manner that both the
employee and his superior understand what is
expected from the employee and how success is
definedandmeasured.
Performance planning for an employee flows
from organizational or unit objectives and is
undertaken jointly by the employee and his
superior.
PERFORMANCEMONITORING
Performance monitoring is a process wherein the
supervisor ensures that the employee is progressing
towards the goals and objectives established during
goalsetting.
The supervisor makes sure that the work is being
accomplished in accordance to the standards
established at the beginning which acts as a
benchmarkandprovidesregularfeedbacktokeepthe
employeeontrack.

Performance ratingis the step in thework
measurementin which theanalystobserves the worker's
performance and records a value representing that

performance.
Performance rating helps people do their jobs better,
identifiestrainingandeducationneeds,assignspeopleto
work they can excel in, and maintains fairness
insalaries, benefits,promotion, hiring, and firing. Most
workers want to know how they are doing on the job.
