AGRICULTURE AND ENVIRONMENT

DEGRADATION
To make land more productive the use of chemical
fertilizers ,pesticides has been increased.
Modern agriculture has increase the food productivity.
To supply extensive irrigation, surface water has been
diverted and there is increase in competition for land and
water resources.
The people are doing deforestation for agriculture ,
overgrazing leads to the environmental degradation.
And at last due to which our many natural resources has
been depleted.
THE POPULATION FACTOR
We people are also responsible for environment
degradation.
We degarde environment directly when we
comsume resources and indirectly when we extract
resources and transform them up into products that
we want.
As with the increase in population there is increase
in demand of resources .
Energy shortages have been greater impact on
developing nations.
RESOURCE USE
Resource use depends on us that how we are
using the resources and in how much quantity
we are using them.
The overpopulation is the major cause in
resource depletion and environment
degradation .
But in some regions the population is few and
they are also using resources in excess manner.
POPULATION DISTRIBUTION
It is one of the factor for environment
degradation.
As large number of people are indulged in
industrial activity and due to this there is rise
in water and air pollution.
When people are fail to control waste and
recycle and conserve it then it leads to
environment degradation.
WHAT IS ENERGY ?

Energy is defined as the ability or the

capacity to do work.
Energy lights our cities, powers our
vehicles, and runs machinery in factories. It
warms and cools our homes, cooks our food,
plays our music, and gives us pictures on
television.
Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is energy which is generated
from natural sources i.e. sun, wind, rain, tides and can
be generated again and again as and when required.
They are available in plenty and by far most the
cleanest sources of energy available on this planet.
For eg: Energy that we receive from the sun can be
used to generate electricity. Similarly, energy from
wind, geothermal, biomass from plants, tides can be
used this form of energy to another form.
Non-Renewable Energy
Non-Renewable energy is energy which is taken from
the sources that are available on the earth in limited
quantity and will vanish fifty-sixty years from now.
Non-renewable sources are not environmental friendly
and can have serious affect on our health.
They are called non-renewable because they cannot be
re-generated within a short span of time. Non-
renewable sources exist in the form of fossil fuels,
natural gas, oil and coal.
ENERGY CRISIS
Energy crisis is a great price rise in the supply
of energy resources to an economy.
There has been increase in global demand for
energy as a result of population growth and
industrial development.
Supply of energy is therefore far less than the
actual demand.
Types of
renewable energy
Solar thermal technology:
Sun is an ultimate source of energy, which
serves us from the origin life on the globe. It is a
renewable source of energy and freely available.
It doesnt make any kind of pollution
It is a technology to trap the sun rays
through a mirror by which oil or water based
fluid is heated up present in black pipe .
It is used to generate low-cost,
environmentally friendly thermal energy.
Solar photovoltaic technology:
Solar cells, also called photovoltaic (PV) cells
by scientists, convert sunlight directly into
electricity.
Photovoltaic can be incorporated into new
construction as roofing tiles at lower cost.
This technology is helping the people living in
electrically congested urban areas where it
saves the cost of generation .
Ocean wave power
Ocean wave power is the transport of energy
by wind waves, and the capture of that energy
to do useful work for example, electricity
generation, water desalination, or
the pumping of water (into reservoirs).
Using dams, water is allowed to pass through
turbine blades, which produces electricity. In
India, after coal, most of the energy is produced
by this method.
Wind energy technology
Wind energy technologies use the energy in wind for
practical purposes such as generating electricity, charging
batteries, pumping water, and grinding grain.
Wind Power is conversion of wind energy into other useful
forms of energy.
This energy is produced by using wind turbines and wind
mills.
Wind works best at night but at that time demand is very
low.
India is worlds third largest producer of electricity
generation using wind power by wind mills
Geothermal Technology
Geothermal installation use hot water that
flows up by itself.
This technology is available commercially and
its cost is affordable and its depend upon
natural resources.
