An Instrument Landing System (ILS) is a ground- based
radio beam transmitter that provides a direction to an aircraft
approaching and landing on a runway.

Provides horizontal navigation
Located at the northern end of the run way
Frequency of Operation: 108MHz to 117MHz (VHF)
Transmits two signals that overlaps at the center. The overlap area
provides the on-track signal
The left side has a 90 Hz modulation and the right side has a
150Hz modulation

Provides vertical navigation
Located at the southern end of the run way
transmits two beams:
The upper beam has a lobe that is modulated
with a 90 Hz signal
while the lower beam has a lobe that is
modulated at 150 Hz.
Frequency of Operation : 329 MHz to 335MHz (UHF)
The glide path has an angle of approximately 3 degrees.
