Natural resources
Natural resources are
resources that exist
without actions of
humankind.It provide
a large no. of materials
and services that are
essential for life on
earth.
E.g.- land, air, water,
coal, etc.
Types of natural resources:

Renewable resources.

Non-renewable resources.
The first kind
of resources
RENEWABLE RESOURCES
The resources that can be
harvested continuously
with proper planning and
management are known
as renewable resources.
E.g.- solar energy, wind
energy, water, biomass
energy, etc.
EXAMPLES OF RENEWABLE
RESOURCES
water

Solar energy

oxygen
WATER
Wateris a transparent and nearly colorless
chemical substance that is the main constituent of
Earth'sstreams ,lakes, andoceans , and the fluids
of most livingorganisms. Itschemical
formulaisH2O.
If a community overuses water, the source can
temporarily run out, but it will come back
eventually, followed by the definition. it is a
renewable resource.
SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy is radiantlightandheatfrom theSun that is
harnessed using a range of ever-evolving technologies such
assolar heating,solar thermal energy,solar architecture.
It is an important source ofrenewable energy and its
technologies are broadly characterized as eitherpassive
solar oractive solar depending on how they capture and
distribute solar energy or convert it intosolar power. Solar
thermal technologies can be used for water heating
OXYGEN
As we all know human being and animals use
oxygen for breathing , and plants release oxygen,
hence according to definition of renewable resources
oxygen is being replenished so it is a renewable
resource.
The other
kind of
resources
NON RENEWABLE
RESOURCES
A non renewable
resource is a natural
resource that cannot be
re-made or re-grown at
a scale comparable to
its consumption.
E.G- coal, petroleum,
natural gas, etc.
COAL
Coal is used as a fuel, it takes
millions of years to regenerate
it, so once we dig it all up,
and, burn it, then it's
finished. it doesn't renew itself every
day. if somehow, a community uses,
coal at a large scale comparable to its
consumption. it will run out, and will
have to wait for a long time, so that it
will regenerate for use, which is
practically impossible, so it is
considered as non-renewable
resource.
PETROLEUM
Oil is a thick, black, gooey liquid also calledpetroleum.
It's found way down in the ground, usually between
layers of rock. To get oil out, a well is dug. Digging a
well is like putting a straw into acan of pop. The oil is
then pumped out of the ground, just like when you
suck pop up the straw. Oil is carried in pipelines and
largetanker ships.
MINERALS
Amineralis a naturally
occurring chemical
compound. Most often, they
are crystalline
andabiogenicin origin.
Mineralsarenon-renewable,
as they take tens of
thousands to millions of
years to form.
Misconceptions

Many people have the misconception that a resource's

status of renewability means that it is an endless source. A
renewable resource is not endless; rather, the Energy
Information Administration (EIA) defines a renewable
resources as "Fuels that can be easily made or 'renewed'."
