The Website: Background Information
Main goal/purpose: ...to investigate a cost-effective approach to increasing
access to music scores from the Bodleian's collections, to be achieved by a
combination of rapid digitization and the creation of descriptive metadata
through crowd-sourcing.
The music was previously uncatalogued and is being used as the sample for
the crowdsourcing project.
The music sources on the site were originally collected unbound in 64 boxes
before being catalogued online.
Zooniverse consists of hundreds of thousands of researchers who devote their time and
money to make research more practical
The use of uncatalogued piano music is intended to improve access to the material, encourage wider
engagement with the Bodleian's music collections and facilitate research into amateur music-making
