INTRODUCTION :-
Urolithiasis or nephrolithiasis is a condition that is
characterized by the formation of urinary calculi at any level of
the urinary tract.
Crystal and oxalates are the gravel of various
composition like calcium, phosphate, uric acid etc.
Due to visham ahar - vihar the vata dosh get prakupit
and leads to dryness of the pitta, kapha and shukra yukta
mutra and causes obstruction of all the mukha dwar of basti to
form mutrasharkara.
The multiple deposition on the mutrasharkara leads to
the formation mutrashmari.
According to acharya vagbhatt most of the ashmari are kapha
dosh predominance.

Sharkarapaatan yog is the combination of churnas of 5 phala
in equal quantity with the anupan of gud (same quantity) and
ushna-ammbu.
sharkarapaatan yog is indicated as param yog by acharya
vagbhatt for the mutrasharkara and mutrashmari paatan.
All the contain of sharkarapaatan yog is KAPHA-VAATA
SHAMAK.
hence, I have taken this yog for the details study on
mutrashmari and mutrasharkara.
NEED OF STUDY
1)Many treatment modalities have been adopted in
contemporary world to combat Urolithiasis, but they
are quiet expensive

2)For increasing acceptance of ayurvedic formulations


it is necessary to prove them on basis of contemporary
diagnostic tools
HYPOTHYSIS :-
Sharkarapaatan yog will have effect on paatan of
mutrasharkara and mutrasmari with respect to urinary
calculi, crystals and oxalates

NULL HYPOTHYSIS :-
Sharkarapaatan yog doesnt shown any effect on
mutrasharkara and mutrashmari with respect to urinary
calculi, crystals and oxalates.

Objectives

To study in detail of mutraashmari and mutrasharkara as


per Ayurvedic classics.

To study in detail urinary Calculus, crystal and oxalates as


per modern text.

To study sharkarapaatan yog on mutrasharkara and


mutrashmari as per Ayurvedic classics.

To study the significance of PATHYA-APATHYA kalpana


in the management of Mutrashmari and mutrasharkara.

GUDA (JAGGARY) it has specific prabhav of SRUTAMUTRAM
SHAKUT (MUTRAL)
METHODS OF PREPARATION:-

In the preparation of sharkarapaatan yoga all
the physical impurities will be cleared and beejarahita phala
of all the 5 contents will be mixed in equal quantity
according to sharangdhar samhita.
The formulation will be prepared in the
pharmacy of Y.M.T ayurvedic college as per textual
reference.
Sharkarapaatan yog will be prepared under expert
supervision by standard method of choorna preparation
from dravyaguna dept and the quality control lab of Y.M.T
ayurvedic college.
Final product will be stored in the sterile cleaned air tight
glass container.
DRUG ADMINISTRATION
DOSE OF DRUG :- 5 gm BiD

ANUPAN :- guda (jaggary) 5 gm BiD (same as churna ref


:- sha. Samhita madyam khand 6/2) and ushna ambu.

DURATION :- Apan kal(after lunch and dinner)

DURATION OF STUDY:- 2 month

FOLLOW UP:- Every 15TH day for 2 months.


inclusive criteria

1) Patient selected irrespective of sex, occupation,


education and habitat.
2) Age group of 18 years to 60 years will be included.

3) Patients showing classical signs and symptoms of


renal calculus, oxalates and crystals.

4) Patient having calculi less then or equal to 10 mm are


taken for the study
Exclusion criteria
1) Paitent with Severe chronic systemic diseases.
2) Acute and chronic renal failure.
3) Any malignancy of kidney and urinary tract.
4) Patients with urinary stricture.
5) Patients with severe hydronephrosis
6) Renal Calculus of size above 10 mm.
7) known Congenital anomalies of the kidney.
8) Patient suffering from any known medico-renal disease
9) DM
10) The patient taking drug like uricosuric drugs like
Salicylates, probenacid etc. regularly
11) Patients taking any diuretic
Withdrawal Criteria:
1) Patients not complying with treatment protocol.

2) Discontinuation of treatment during trial.

3) Development of life threatening complication.

E) BSL FASTING AND PP

Source of data :
Patient will be selected from OPD/IPD of YMT
Hospital.

Language of synopsis :-
Language used for the synopsis work will be
English which will be supplemented by Sanskrit
terminology wherever necessary.
Type of study:

Open random non-comparative study.

Clinical study design:

1) This study is entirely based on clinical observation &


assessment of selected 60 patients attending the
OPD/IPD of YMT Ayurvedic Medical College, Kharghar
Navi Mumbai.

2) Concomitant therapy was given in case of


aggravation of symptoms like colicky pain. Viz
antispasmodics etc..
3) Written consent will be taken.

4) Recording of collected data.

ETHICAL CLEARANCE :-
Ethical clearance will be taken from ethical
Committee of the institute.
OBSERVATION AND RESULTS:
All the clinical finding will be entered in the specially
designed CRF (Case Record Form ) for the study.

The data thus generated from the observation will be


subjected to suitable statistical test & result will be
drawn.
Conclusion :
Conclusion will be drawn from statistical analysis and
graphical representation.

SUMMARY:
