Mushroom Photography

By
John Plischke III
I have been to a number of mushroom
photography talks where all you see is beautiful
photos but learn very little. Today there will be
a few photo contest quality photos such as with
Hygrocybe miniata below but most of the
photos today are designed to show techniques
rather than pretty pictures
Grouping the Fungi
Mushrooms in most field guides did not really
look the way they appear when they were found,
often they were repositioned and adjusted to
make them look more pleasing. All of the
photographer I know move mushrooms
When moving mushrooms they
must be kept in the same habitat.
If they grew under oak never
switch them to pine etc. Typically
they are only moved a few feet or
to where a single was growing by
changing the single to a group.
Nice Photo of Agaricus bernardii but
there is two much empty space on the
top and bottom

What can we
do?
Adding the fourth mushroom helps a
lot, it also shows the pinkish bruising
on the cut one

Adding the 5th
fungi is perfect
