communication protocol providing;
An easy and efficient way of conducting
e-business.
A common language for interaction of
business processes.

Why RosettaNet ? ebXML vs. RosettaNet

RosettaNet makes use of ebXML to create

standard business processes.
ebXML RosettaNet
Defines general Enables the use of
standards, not specific standards
specific to any thereby making a
business (i.e. thorough
horizontal coverage (i.e.
standards) vertical
standards)

Implementation Overview
RosettaNet defines standards for B2B communication
and business processes.
Public processes are
defined according to
RosettaNet standards in
order to eliminate the
cost of defining different
processes for each
partner .
Private Processes are
web services.

RosettaNet Standards

RosettaNet Standards serve a robust,

reliable, nonproprietary e-business
solutions.
Partner Interface Process (PIP)
The RosettaNet Implementation Framework
(RNIF)
RosettaNet Dictionaries (RNBD, RNTD)

Partner Interface Processes(PIPS)
PIPs are specialized system-to-system, XML-
based dialogs.
The hierarchy b/w business process structures:
Cluster Segment PIP Activity Action
CLUSTER 3: Order Management
Segment A: Quote and Order Entry
PIP 3A1: Request Quote
Activity: Request Quote
Action: Quote Request Action
Action: Quote Confirmation

Seven types of clusters defined by PIPs.

1. Partner Product and Service Review
2. Product Information
3. Order Management
4. Inventory Management
5. Marketing Information Management
6. Service and Support
7. Manufacturing

An Analogy b/w Human & Server Business
Exchanges and the Role of RosettaNet

Partner Interface Processes(PIPS)

Each PIP consists of three main parts:

1. Business Operation View (BOV)

2. Functional Service View (FSV)
3. Implementation Framework View (IFV)

RosettaNet Implementation
Framework (RNIF)
RNIF packages, routes and transfer all
PPI messages and signals between end
points.
RosettaNet currently supports HTTP and
SMTP transfer protocols.
RosettaNet networked application
protocol send/receive Business
Messages.

messages by the use
of RNIF.

for e-business communication. Three main
types of dictionaries:
RosettaNet Business Dictionary (RNBD)
