WiMAX System

What is WiMAX?
WorldWide Interoperability for Microwave
Access
- WiMAX and 3G are just like cars on
different ways: they have different
development route but they will be converged
and then drive to the same road.
Features of
WiMAX:

Range: - Optimized for up to 5 Kms.

- Designed to handle many users spread out over kilometers.
- Designed to tolerate greater multi-path delay spread (signal
reflections) up to 10.0 us.

Coverage: - Standard supports mesh network topology.

- Optimized for outdoor NLOS performance.
- Standard supports advanced antenna techniques.

- 2.5Ghz and 3.5Ghz are the most possible frequency which could be used
by WiMAX in the world.
- 2.3Ghz can be taken as the backup frequencyfor WiMAX.

GSM: Coverage is related to maximum Tx power on the condition of good

frequency planning without interference.

CDMA: As self-interference system, the coverage depends not only on

maximum Tx power but also system payload.

WiMAX: TDD, Orthogonal sub-carriers without interference in one cell.

Coverage needs to consider interference at the edge of cells.
