Instrument air and distribution
* The compressed air system is used to supply
the plant with instrument air for air operated
devices and with service air that is used for
maintenance purposes.

*
* The compressor is a single stage, contact cooled, screw type
compressor. The motors that drive the compressors receives power
form three low voltage boards 10BFA,10BFB and 20BFA.
* There is an air filter that is located on the inlet of the compressor.
* The coolant is filtered by a five micron filter. There is also a three
way temperature control valve that receives its signal from a
thermostat. One port is from the cooler, another from the receiver/
separator and the other to the injection orifice.
* The cooler is an air type cooler that can operate up to an inlet
ambient air temperature of 46C.
* The compressors are operated in a loaded and unloaded principle
where the compressor will unload when the system pressure reaches
its present value the compressor then blows down to save power.

*
There are filters in the inlet of each dryer
to remove moisture and coolant that may
be present in the air. The removed
mixture is then automatically blown down
to the oil water separator.

*
* Remote control activated-
* Schedule start stop active-
* Motor running-
* Compressor loaded-

*
* The refrigeration dryer is a no cycling compressed air dryer. The refrigerant used is
called R507.Saturated air enters the dryers heat exchanger. Then it is cooled by the
evaporating refrigerant. The air then goes to the de-mister and then back to the heat
exchangers to cool the in coming air again.

*

*
*
* The air out of the refrigerant then goes to
three air receivers. One of the three is used for
service air that is piped directly to the service
air distribution system and the other two is
used for the instrument air system and has to
go to another dryer before it can be distributed
to the instrument air distribution system.
* These tanks are designed for a pressure of 11
bar and has a capacity of 6000 liters.

*
*
* This dryer is made up two vessels. When one is
operational the other is being reactivated. During the
drying process moisture is absorbed. Between 8 and
18% of the discharge air is used for the reactivation.
Reactivation is simply removing the moisture from the
desiccant and venting it to atmosphere.
* There is a timer that allows the vessels the vessels to
switch.
* There are also pneumatically operated valves that
switch the inlet valve to each filter.

*
* The condensate from each system is piped to
the oil water separator. The oil is kept in the
receiver while there is an air pump that pumps
the water to another container.
