INTRODUCTION

Green concrete can be defined as the concrete with material as a

partial or complete replacement for cement or fine or coarse
aggregate.
This means concrete that uses less energy in its production &
produces less carbon dioxide than normal concrete is green
concrete.
Substitution material can be of waste or residual product.
A concrete that made with concrete waste uses less
energy
Produce less co2 in the atmosphere.
Green concrete is also called eco-friendly.
Green concrete capable for sustainable construction.
INTRODUCTION
MATERIAL USED AS:
FLY ASH AS CEMENTITIOUS MATERIAL.
FLY ASH AS AGGREGATE.
WASTE PLASTIC AS CONCRETE COMPOSITE.
STONE CRUSHER WASTE AS FINE AGGREGATES.
MARBLE WASTE AS FILLER MATERIAL.
RECYCLED CONCRETE AND MASONRY AS AGGREGATES.
QURRY ROCK DUST AS FINE AGGREGATE
HISTORY
This was first invented in Denmark in the year 1998.
In Denmark a road bridge is contructed, which was
completed in 2002.
DMRC use fly ash cement concrete in construction.
Plastic waste concrete road constructed by CRRI in 2002.
IMPORTANCE OF GREEN CONCRETE

It is eco-friendly construction technique.

To avoid the pollution and reuse the material,
green concrete is an excellent substituent of cement.
green concrete has greater strength and durability.
energy consumption in production is lower.
Green concrete is very often considered to be cheap to produce
PRODUCTION OF GREEN CONCRETE

Concrete with inorganic residual products. Ceramic wastes

used as green aggregates. By replacing cement with fly
ash, micro silica in larger amounts.
To develop new green cements and binding materials (i.e.
by increasing the use of alternative raw materials and
alternative fuels, and by developing/improving cement
with low energy consumption).
Green lightweight aggregates

Synthetic lightweight aggregate produced from

environmental waste is a viable new source of structural
aggregate material.

The uses of structural grade lightweight concrete reduce

considerably the self-load of a structure and permit larger
precast units to be handled.

Water absorption of the green aggregate is large but the

crushing strength of the resulting concrete can be high.
SUITABILITY OF GREEN CONCRETE
IN STRUCTURES
Reduce the dead weight of a facade from 5 tons to about 3.5
tons.
Reduce crane age load, allow handling, lifting flexibility with
lighter weight.

Good thermal and fire resistance, sound insulation than the

traditional granite rock.

Improve damping resistance of building.

Speed of construction, shorten overall construction period.
ADVANTAGES

Optimized mix designs mean easier handling, better

consistency and easier finishing
Reduction in shrinkage & creep
Green Concrete uses local and recycled materials in
concrete.
The heat of hydration of green concrete is significantly
lower than traditional concrete
This result in a lower temperature rise in large concrete
pours which is a distinct advantage for green concrete.
LIMITATION

By using stainless steel, cost of reinforcement increases.

Structures constructed with green concrete have

comparatively less life than structures with conventional
concrete.

Split tension of green concrete is less than that of

conventional concrete.
Improved engineering properties

Mix can result in a reduced paste volume within the

concrete structure resulting in a higher level of protection
against concrete deterioration.
Higher strength per kilogram of cement
Increased durability & lower permeability
More aggregates typically mean higher Modulus of
elasticity.
FUTURE WORK

In India industries having problem to dispose wastes.

Reduced environmental impact with reduction in CO2 emission By 30%.
Use of green concrete can help us reduces a lot of wastage of several
products.
Various non-biodegradable products can also be used and avoiding the
issues of their disposal.
To develop new green cements and binding materials.
