INTRODUCTION
Reservoir characterization requires the construction of detailed 3D
petrophysical property models contained within a geological framework.
Structural interpretation of seismic data has been and continues to be
important in the generation of the framework of the reservoir model.

The success of reservoir characterization depends on the comprehensive

integration of various disciplines. Complex structural interpretation results,
seismic/sequence stratigraphy approach, core/log data, common geological
knowledge and depositional/facies environment modeling are essential parts
in reservoir geological model building.

Reservoir characterization includes determination of reservoir limits,

structure, volume and reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, net
pay thickness, and heterogeneity (Ajisafe and Ako, 2013).
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The huge cost and uncertainties associated with

exploration and exploitation of oil and gas resources
makes it inevitable to properly and adequately characterize
a reservoir and evaluate a formation in order to accurately
ascertain the hydrocarbon potential of the reservoir and
also determine its porosity, permeability and water
saturation. This would in turn reduce the uncertainties
associated with drilling and producing a field.
AIM AND OBJECTIVES
The aim of the study is to evaluate the formations and characterize the
reservoirs in the Alpha Field in terms of its geological structures and
petrophysical properties for optimum hydrocarbon estimation.

The objectives are:

Integrated seismic interpretation of Alpha field.

Petrophysical estimation of reservoir properties.
Determination of environment of deposition.
Static modeling of identified reservoirs.
Estimation of hydrocarbon accumulation in place.
