Analysis of Learners: K-5 teachers


State Objectives:
Learners will be able to engage students by incorporating technology based reading
lessons into their individual classrooms.
Learners will be able to increase overall reading initiative for the student body.

Whole Group Instruction: Teacher facilitated model
Teacher models usage of technology
Pick a lesson to demonstrate to the entire class using Starfall

Third graders should only use Starfall as support for reading and
building reading interest.
Teachers and media specialist collaborate lesson plans for reading
with 3rd graders.
Teach reading lessons as you would in the classroom.
Utilize media center for Starfall to encourage students that
reading is fun! Give students a worksheet that goes along with
the specified reading for the day and link it to the standard you
taught in class. Example: Identifying character traits, determine
meaning of words or phrases

Notice: It is easy to differentiate. Have students remediate parts of the website


that they have not mastered before moving on.
Grades 4-5Building from Starfall

Use the same teaching frame outlined in slide 4 for K-2 teaching utilization
of Starfall.
In your whole group instruction create a book with the entire class. Create
your book on a science, math, or social studies topic. Share your book with
other classes.
Pair students with a given topic to create a digital book
Allow students to use their imagination and create their own story by
formulating a digital book
Students will then be able to creator their own books.
Media Center Learning Environment

Utilize school media center as a fun and engaging


opportunity to get students encouraged to read more!
Work with media specialist to plan lessons using media center
resources.
Set goals and provide schoolwide incentives for reading
books from the media center. Example: Allow students to
make book trailers to display to the school. After the book has
been checked-out 15 times throw a book club social.
Exercise: Using the chart paper at your table plan a mini
lesson that you may utilize in the media center to get students
geared to reading more.
