Descripcin
El Parque est conformado por dos islas, Gorgona y Gorgonilla, que
recibieron el nombre de Francisco Pizarro en 1527. []

Gorgona fue prisin de mxima seguridad durante 25 aos hasta que en

1984 cientficos, ambientalistas y defensores de derechos humanos
lideraron una campaa para que se cerrara la prisin. As se creo el Parque.

Ha sido denominada Isla Ciencia por la cantidad de informacin que ha

dado a los investigadores para entender los ecosistemas y para el manejo
efectivo del rea protegida. Ministerio de Ambiente (2017)

para los servicios ecotursticos.
+ Se recomienda la vacuna contra el ttano y la

+ El Parque Gorgona es uno de los sitios de
apareamiento, crianza y alimentacin de la
ballena jorobada. Por esta razn est prohibida la
persecucin de los individuos desde las
embarcaciones; solo se pueden observar en
encuentros fortuitos, durante los cuales los
visitantes deben seguir las recomendaciones de
acuerdo a la reglamentacin.

Ubicacin
Alejado de Medelln a una distancia de 465.76 km
(lnea recta entre ambos lugares), el Parque
Gorgona se encuentra en la Isla Gorgona, ubicada
en el departamento del Cauca y dentro del Ocano
pacfico.
